Theaters

We had a wonderful time in Branson and always hope to male it once or twice per year. This visit it was sad to see Andy Williams theater with the marquee sign off, grass and weeds growing, the Texas Tenor, Rick Thomas, and Christmas signs still hanging on the building. Drove by Yakov theater with weeds and grass growing up, the sign saying open Fall of 2019 and 2020. The Jim Stafford Theater dark. Shojis theater sign saying watch for 2021 dates. The old RFD theater with grass and weeds growing and the sign says opening March 2019. To bad they can't utilize these theaters or at least the up keep. Hopefully someday someone will swoop in and make something out of them.

That is just the tip of the iceberg. Numerous other theaters are also actively for sale, just not publicly known. Purchasing a Branson theater is a terrible investment, most of the “for sale” theaters will be leveled and property used for other purposes. The people holding the mortgage on Andy Williams Theater even publicly advertised (through their real estate agent) the option of purchasing the venue just for the land and bulldozing the theater. There is no sentimentality or memories attached to these venues, there are just a lot of people who want back the money they loaned on those properties. And it is very sad.

I attended a the Texas Tenors Christmas show this past November at the Moon River Theatre. I gave the theatre one last look, for I knew I would never step back in that building again. What a shame! The lobby was beautifully decorated, a large gift shop, ample restrooms. The seats were great. The show and sound spectacular!
Those were the assets. You all know that bad things about this theatre, the steps in and out of the theatre were numerous. Why someone would design a theatre this way is a mystery. Plus the parking lot was dark and steep. What a foolish and unsafe place to park.
I attended many other show at the theatre over the years and will cherish the good memories.
