Just got back from the Beach Boys at RFD TV Theatre

I just thought I’d put a quick blurb about the show for now. I took a ton of pictures and will write a full review on the Branson Courier in the next week or so.

I’m not sure how the other dates did, but this one was packed. If there were empty seats, they were few and far between. There are two of the 1960’s Beach Boys, Mike Love and Bruce Johnston that are still performing as part of the Beach Boys. I know there is debate on whether or not it is really the Beach Boys or not without Brian Wilson, but the band that showed up this night sounded terrific. They played over two hours without an intermission to a crowd that couldn’t get enough. They performed all the favorites and at least one that was new to me. Stay tuned, I’ll let you know when I write the full review.

The City of Branson’s new board does the “Branson” thing with the term “Branson,” gives it back to the real “Branson.”

In a unanimous vote the Branson Board of Aldermen voted, at their May 29, 2007, meeting, to stop the city’s pursuit of the claims that the city of Branson owned the rights to the term “Branson.” In a battle started with the “Pearl Harbor” of legal letters, city attorney Paul Link’s letter of September 15, 2006, the city of Branson, with the approval of the old board, launched an ill fated campaign to try to exert control over the term “Branson.” The newly elected board members and mayor were instrumental in reversing the city’s position. A column entitled “What ‘We believe’ is Branson’s past and its hope for the future!” published in the Sunday May 27 edition of the Branson Daily Independent and on line in the Branson Courier contains a unique promise from the community of Branson that just might help explain why “Some one you love is always playing in Branson.” The column points out that people come to Branson for a lot of different reason but that “What will bring them back to Branson, or not, is the actual experience they have while visiting Branson. Exciting Performer Schedule Changes for Branson’s Legends in Concert

On March 14, 2007 a review entitled “Branson’s ‘Legends in Concert’ is a legend in the making,” on the Legends in Concert Show was published in the Branson Courier. To insure fresh excitement and variety the schedule of artists being recreated is constantly changing. The current recreations appearing in the show are, Alan Jackson, Britney Spears, Blues Brothers, and Elvis. As of June 1, 2007 The Temptations will replace Stevie Wonder and the only “artists” left from those featured in the review are “The Blues Brothers” and Elvis. Within the next week or so the Branson Courier will review the show again with the new performers, names etc.

Visitor and locals alike, celebrate Citizenship this Flag Day at the American Presidents Museum. Be one of hundreds, (our goal is 1500!) that join in becoming the largest Living Flag! Each person in attendance will fill in the Stars and Stripes to become proof that our Flag still waves, proud!

Arrive by 7:30AM and start filling in the flag that will be mapped out in the large back parking lot. A great program of events will begin promptly at 9:00AM beginning with the Living Flag saying the Pledge of Allegiance! What a magnificent display to be a part of!

Wear a red top or white top to fill in the stripes. First responders are invited to fill in the blue of the Union!

There will be refreshments, entertainment, dignitaries and more! Television stations from all across the state have been invited as well as national media.

Warning - Lake Taneycomo to be lowered during the week of May 20, 2007

Because of work being done at some outlets at Branson Landing, the normal level of Lake Taneycomo is scheduled to be lowered starting Monday, May 21, and remain so until at least the Wednesday, May 23. This could impact on the use of public boat ramps and safety, especially in the upper end of the lake, at and above Short Creek.

Caution is advised. Rocks, trees, gravel bars and other obstructions that do not normally pose a hazard may do so during this lower water. Hopefully, by the Memorial Day Weekend things will be back to normal. For more information call the Public Works Department for the City of Branson at 417-334-3345.

Branson Gas Buster Program helps fights higher gas prices

The Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB is responding to increasing gas prices by offering visitors to Branson a Gas Buster discount card, accepted at dozens of live shows, area attractions, lodging properties, retail shops and restaurants, worth a total of $50 off purchases, as well as a chance to win a grand prize getaway to Branson. Anyone presenting a minimum of $40 in receipts for gas purchased for their trip to Branson this summer will receive a Gas Buster Discount Punch Card from the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber Welcome Centers located at the corners of Highway 65 and 248 and Highway 65 and 160 May 1 through October 31, 2007. Branson’s National Day of Prayer Services - May 3, 2007

On April 17, 1952, President Harry S. Truman signed into law a Congressional joint resolution, declaring an annual National Day of Prayer. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed an amendment to that law permanently designating the first Thursday in May as the official National Day of Prayer. It is a day that is intended to unite all Americans in prayer for our nation.

As part of the Branson area’s celebration of the National Day of Prayer, services will be held at noon on Thursday May 3 at both Branson City Hall and the Taney Country Courthouse. The services are open to all and are sponsored by Concerned Women for America, Local Pastors and Community Leaders.
