Restaurant News 8/22

Spent 3 days and nights in Branson this week. The new Cheddars on the strip is scheduled to open on September 12. There was a big NOW HIRING banner up (of course most restaurants and stores have "now hiring" banners up),

Went down to the Landing on Thursday and walked the entire Landing for the first time this year. Didn't know that Garfields was gone (checked the website and there are only 2 locations left in the entire chain that used to be in several states). Charley's Cheesesteaks and Subs is also gone. There are several empty spaces besides the 2 closed restaurants. There was a construction dumpster behind Garfields and people were going in and out of the back entrance so maybe something new is coming to that space.

Looked like the new Seven Brews Coffee (and other drinks) in the Walmart parking lot on the strip was busy whenever we drove by during the day and evening.

The new Billy Gail's (old Tequilla's location on Gretna in the Branson Mills center) seemed to be busy whenever we drove by. And the still relatively new Tequilla's was busy.

Don't know what happened with the Taco Habitat that was built across the street from Chick-Fil-A.

Also noticed that some restaurants around town seemed to operating on reduced hours during the week. Some were closed by 7 that I know used to be open to 8 or later. The Chicken House was open for lunch but was closed in the evening. Paradise Steakhouse on SOH Expressway has permanently closed. Steak and Shake by the old Celebration City has closed.

Probably the fate of SNS. Of the 2 that was near my house, one was off an on again all the time. We quit going to both for extremely crappy service. If you did co better check your order for missing items.
We used to take our granddaughter to the one by 6 Flags STL. Service was so poor, we had to quit taking a fidgety hungry kid there. It would take up to 25 minutes to serve us. Unacceptable in a fast food type restaurant.

Bricktown Brewery is going in where Garfields used to be. https://bricktownbrewery.com/locations/#Missouri

Steak n Shake online says they are open 10am-8pm. I thought there was a small fire/smoke there awhile back. So maybe it is closed for that. Not sure.

Taco Habitat has had many rumors swirling around their Branson Location.

Everyone I talk to in Branson is excited for the Cheddars to open!

The Steak and Shake by Chick Fil A and McDonald's is still open. The other one did have some stuff in the parking lot so maybe it's temporary closed.

could there be some connection with the Steak n Shake to that big announcement a few months ago about a resort or something that was going in from the quick stop and going south? at the time they had a map of it, cabins and a big area of rv hookups and I wondered then if they were building around the steak and shake.

There is some type of construction happening on the property behind and to the side of Steak and Shake. Looked like road construction.

I looked at zillow last night and they are advertising cabins for sale in that area, just an artist drawing and floor plan. prices range from 400,000 to 600,000 depending on size. they also have a map of what is planned... restaurants and "attractions" doesn't say what the attractions are.

if it happens, and I say if because over the years seen to many things planned that never do happen but if it does it will either be very close to the Steak and Shake giving them a great location or they will sell out and build right over them.

Cabins

Sign me up for one of the $600,000 ones. I always wanted a "cabin" that cost more than my house.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤑
I guess now with the pending lawsuit, that might never happen.😱😰😭

September update

Just got back from a 2 night trip to Branson. Tuesday night we ate at Chili's for the first time in a very long time. The place was almost empty at 5:30. Prices have definitely increased and portions are smaller. That may be the case for Chili's nationwide, don't know. Menu is also smaller.

Cheddar's opened on Tuesday. I talked to a local Tuesday evening who said that the wait at 3 pm was 30 - 45 minutes. He didn't want to wait so he ate at the bar. He said the food and the margaritas were good. He did say that the place needed more staff.

Steak and Shake on west side of town still closed. But the original location was steady on Wednesday night about 8:30. Service was relatively fast. The food we got at the drive through was hot and good.

Just read this in the Branson Globe:

Heroes has a happy hour Sunday - Thursday 3 pm - 6 pm. Several draft beers are available for $3. Nachos are $7 and Fried Pickles are $5.

I remember looking at the menu when Cheddars was announced and looked like a few interesting things to try, probably will at some point.
