I think there is an annual family membership with 2 guest passes, for an additional $50 also.

We are going to hold off a few weeks, before going, but I look forward to sharing it with my grandkids. I got a sneak peek about a year ago, and was thoroughly impressed by the aquariums.

Kevin Costner!!!!!

According to an invitation to the event the opening ceremony, on Wednesday, September 20, will feature former Presidents George W. Bush and Jimmy Carter. The event will also bring U.S. Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke, Missouri Governor Eric Greitens and more than 400 conservation leaders to Springfield.

In conclusion of the invite only event, music stars Kevin Costner, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, John Anderson and others will perform. The event will cause Bass Pro Shops to close Wednesday, reopening on normal hours Thursday.

HUGE "tent" (Johnny Morris style) being assembled for the event.

Tourism expected to increase greatly in Springfield . . . hotel/motel building boom.

per KY3 this evening

People knock him, but lots of people benefit whenever he does something. You can't say that about many people.

I should have taken a picture of the 'tent' tonight. It's not completely up yet, but is probably 100 yards wide, and 50 yards deep - and the frame is aluminum T post that were bigger than 2x4's. ... not your normal tent.

Info from Hometown Daily Radio about the Grand Opening events:

Really a big deal for Bass Pro to close for the entire day on September 20.

Jet Jam

63 jets showed up for the ceremonies.

Busiest day ever for General Aviation at Springfield/Branson National Airport. Sold 20,000 gallons of fuel, when a normal day is 3000.

Rental car shortage, too.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe we saw a Wonders of Wildlife commercial on CNN. Bass Pro, also, which isn't that unusual since they are nationwide.

There were some commercials for WOW during the Liberty Bowl as well as for the Bass Pro in the Memphis Pyramid.
