You're right . . . release the last 36 hours has not been significant in TRL and even less in Beaver. The James and King have not topped off yet. We're really lucky that the rain has moved south.

My guess, based on watching for 20 years, 920-922. In other words, tomorrow.

From OzarkAnglers upper Taneycomo forum this morning.

Tony Wedele just called me and said there's 5 flood gates open at Table Rock Dam. TR's lake level is at 916.31 feet and rising about a tenth every hour. Beaver is rising about the same, may be a little faster.

This is the first time I've ever seen the Corps open gates AHEAD of rising water. I don't want to say unprecedented but it may be the cast, and a change in operating procedure. They don't usually open the gates unless TR hits 920 feet.

I've asked Tony to get a water temp and to look for any shad that should be coming over the top.

With five gates open and three turbines running are you starting to think maybe the CoE are starting to think a little ahead for Spring rains?
Even with one turbine off line, and the gates only adding the equivalent of it operating At just two feet over power pool haven't they just run a mixed schedule between full generation, and two or three units in past years?

920 seems to be the consensus.

- - - - - -
Just a reminder:

01/05/2008 910.22
04/12/2008 933.25

02/08/2011 906.13
04-15-2011 913.01
04-27-2011 935.03

03-27-2017 907.10
05-01-2017 934.2

So, can you understand why it is important at this time of year to keep the lake lower, why 915-920 is playing with flood, and why the gates were opened yesterday at 917?

1-1.5" more rain throughout the entire watershed today.

James River is receding, but is still elevated.

Kings River was receding, still elevated, and has turned back up from the new rain.

Despite the increased release, all three lakes are still rising.

Including today, rain is in the forecast for 6 of the next 6 days.

Yikes - hadn't looked that far out!

I had to wade out about 15' to get to the dock gangway on Wednesday evening. Sometimes community dock tending works, sometimes is doesn't.

Beaver and Bull Shoals are still rising; TRL is down slightly.

Cushion is 44 feet, low going into rainy season.

Yesterday's storms are not impacting what is coming into the three lakes. They are stable, a bit too high for the season, and water is being passed downstream. Only so much can be, so drawing down the lakes takes time.

There is no forecast of flooding on the White River downstream:

https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydr...lzk&gage=dsca4

But, flood stage there (Des Arc) is 24 feet, and here's some noteworthy history:

(1) 39.43 ft on 05/07/2011
(4) 35.53 ft on 05/09/2017
(6) 33.78 ft on 04/17/2008
(7) 33.74 ft on 03/26/2008

Four of the Top Ten crests there have been this time of year, and since the "flood control" reservoirs have been in place.

There have been 31 flood crests since those reservoirs were built. Only 2 of the 33 highest crests were before the "flood control" reservoirs.

Do you have precipitation ammounts in the White river watershed for those years? My guess is most of those crests were also yeats with record rainfall. Flood events that most likely would have been worse without the dams.
After all, they are flood control reservoirs, not flood elimination reservoirs.

Lakes have been steady.

1.5-2" rain forecast for next three days.

Actually, welcome rain, except for the outdoor events that are scheduled.

Who's up for a rainy day?

Not my normal position this time of year, but I'm all for holding 915 awhile.
