Yes, they've been childhood friends.
Clay joined the Texas Goldminor Band in 1986.
He aided Joey getting a position with the TGB
in 1991 or 1992.

With Melody Hart leaving Clay's theater to perform with
her Husband, Wayne Massengale. Her departure left a
position open. It worked out well for Joey since Mickey
will not be performing in Branson this coming season.

Mickey Gilley will be back at his theater this year!!!! Six will be there too, BUT Mickey will be back and is looking forward to spending another season with his fans.

Thanks Mike for keeping us updated as to Mickey's theater. That is what I had read in the local papers and from an interview with Mickey. In the article, Mickey said he never wanted to retire, and if SIX took over his theater, he would still like to perform there, if they wanted him.
