Golf

This weekend we played Holiday Hills. Very nice and very player friendly. Not long with wide fairways. Yet, a lot of character. Greens were in excellent shape as were the fairways. The staff were very courteous and really appreciated the players. I recommend this course. I am sure there are other more challenging courses for the scratch player, but this is a great vacation course to play. There are coupons in golf flyers giving 2 for 1 on green fees.

It used to be my course du jour. It is great for the occasional golfer who does not mind playing with other occasional golfers. There are not many courses where you can play a hole from the next fairway, or even the next fairway.

It is a resort golf course and is what some of those who try to tackle the more challenging courses ought to be playing.

League at LedgeStone once again was great today, including the buffet and beverage afterwards. Plus the unmatchable comradrie. If anyone would like to give it a try, as my guest, PM me. Weds @ 8 AM.

Good info. I will keep that in mind. Nothing cures a double bogey like a good buffet.

Murder Rock is a challenging but beautiful 18 hole course, that relies on your being accurate off the tee. You will be penalized if you play from the rough. Staff is very professional, curteous and friendly. Dh has played the course several times, the last time being just a couple w/ends ago - and has always found the greens to be in excellent shape.

According to Dh, Branson Creek is the best course in SW Missouri. The fairways are wider, greens are always in great shape, and the layout is beautiful. It'll set you back around $100/round in the summer, but there are some deals to be found. Dh is headed there again this w/end - he tries to play at least a couple rounds a year at Branson Creek.

I don't see dh ever joining a course - because he enjoys trying out a new courses on a regular basis. We've got a good course just a few miles from our house, and I don't think he's played it all year, always trying out a course that he hasn't played in the past year.......he can always play the home course on a nice January w/end.

Yes, Branson Creek has made golf magazines top 100 private/public courses in the USA. I never have seen a coupon for any deal. I played Harbor Town at Hilton Head about 4 years ago at $200 a round. It was worth it and maybe next year I will play BC.

I don't understand why Murder Rock uses John Daley to endorse the course. I can think of ...oh, 200 other golfers with better images.

Holiday Hills sounds like my kind of course. Thanks for the review.

There have been times in the winter when BC's greens fee was the projected high temp for the day.

I heard at the newest upscale course that the reason Top of the Rocks has been closed so long, and why it has added security now, is because Mr. Morris decided to make it 18, an 18 far superior to anything already here.

In the time it has been closed there have been three such courses opened.

A few years back I hosted a guy who has a TV or radio program on PBS in the Twin Cities. I believe his wife was with the University hospital there.

Made me think of you, or your post made me think of them.
