NEW SHOW @HOT HITS THEATRE info please???

Looking forward to a new show in Branson located at a small downtown theatre on Commercial St. I think it is Hot Hits Theatre? I heard Hannah-Rebekah Simmons will be promoting her new show there.
I think I heard the Show will be Thurs-Sat in July beginning July 9th-11th @7 pm, and tickets were really reasonable too....I have heard her numerous times in Arkansas, she has an amazing voice for a 17 year old and she is a 6ft beautiful redhead too! LOL

Can anyone tell me how bad traffic is in Branson right now? I heard there werent many ppl there for this season. And can anyone tell me if the theatre has decent seating? I like the small intimate atmosphere of the smaller theatres but hate the smaller uncomfy seats!

There is nothing wrong with the crowds this year. Tourism is up from this time last year. This time of year most of the people attend the attractions, not the shows.

I was told the shows that had been at Owens Theater were now appearing at Hot hits Theater but would be going back to Owens Theater. Person who told me had no further info and didn't know if Owens was remodeling or what the reason for the changing of theaters might be. Anybody have any info about the two theaters. Hot Hits is across from Owens Theater.

When the Ole Seagull walked by the front of the Owen Theatre the other day he there was a sign indicating that a new Elvis act featuring Joseph Hall from NBC's America's Got Talent will be opening in Feb. 2010

Thnaks for the info. Would hate to see the theater close as it is such a landmark in Branson history. I didn't connect the Owens Threater with Jim Owen until I read an article about him.

Will be looking forward to next year.

Who is Hannah - Rebekah Simmons? Branson is busy - has been every time I've been there this summer.

I was in Branson last week and downtown (where Hot Hits Theatre is) and it was crazy busy each time I was there.
The theatre seats 80 and each seat is a purple padded dining room-type chair. The seats are not connected so there is a little room to spread out.

Is nice when you have enough room to move a little without hitting the person next to you. Some of the theaters have very narrow seats and you just keep hitting elbows with the next guy. Also, the seats are so close to the row in front, is almost impossible for people to get to their seats if they are not on the aisle. I realize this is done to get more seating but it sure is uncomfortable. I am very short and sometimes my knees almost touch the seat in front of me. Know it has to be uncomfortable for tall people.

Now that I have complained about the seats, let me add that I still enjoy all the shows in Branson and very rarely does a night go by, when we are there, that we are not at a show, narrow seats and aisles and all.

I didn't connect the Owens Threater with Jim Owen until I read an article about him.

So how is the theatre connected to Jim Owen? It would seem like he would perform there instead of renting a spot in another theatre.

I know this is an old post but I didn't see the question until just now when I was going through looking for some info.

Jim opened the theater in Branson to give the tourists that were coming in town for float trips, something to do in the evenings. Thus the name Owen Theater.

As to why he doesn't perform there, I have no idea but I would think it is because it is a very small theater and is not up on the strip. His morning shows doesn't draw big crowds simply because they are "morning" shows but, in my opinion, he can still draw good crows in an 8 pm slot.

He is such a big part of country music--both from his singing and his song writing abilities. If people have not seen his show, they are really missing out on something. He not only sings but gives you a little history of country music. Ted will even get up in the moring to see him and Ted is definitely not a morning person.

He probably doesn't perform there because he died in 1972! The Jim Owen who built the theater in the mid '30s was also Mayor of Branson and is not the entertainer.

I am so glad that I located this post to learn more about the Owen theater. The story I read said nothing about it being a different Jim Owen. Since the Jim Owen that performs is the only one I had ever heard of, pertaining to Branson, it seemed natural that he was the one that started the theater.

Are these two people related in anyway. The article did say that he was the Mayor but didn't give any dates. Thank you so much for the information. I am very interested in the theaters and performers in Branson. I have a notebook that I am working on that gives a lot of the info I have been able to trace. This will help me a lot.

I found a website link that gives more info on the "old" Jim Owen. There is a lot of interesting history in the theaters of Branson.

Thank you so very much for the website. I will certainly add it to my history of Branson.

I have lived in the KC area for many, many years, part of it on the Kansas side of the state line and never had the urge to do any research on the history here. But now that we are building a house in Branson and are there so often, I really am getting into finding out history of the town, especially concerning the theaters.

Thank you so much for your help.
