Montana Mike's vs. Texas Land & Cattle
If I had to choose one steakhouse to eat at in Branson, which one would it be? Or would I be better off just going to Lone Star (which I love, but I would prefer to avoid the chain restaurants). It seems like Montana Mike's and Texas Land & Cattle are the 2 popular local ones. Is there one I am leaving out? Is Shorty Smalls in this same class of food? I am not talking about BBQ here and I already plan on going to Chester's and Danna's. I am talking about a steakhouse.

I used to be a fan of Lone Star Steakhouse, but it seems like their quality has gone down.......The one that we used to frequent in KC has closed. I"ve never been to Texas Land and Cattle, but have always had the impression that it might be rated a 'star or 2' better than Lone Star??????

Four of us ate at Montana Mike's the last time we were in Branson over Memorial Day weekend. Out of the four of us, my steak was the only one that wasn't overcooked. Mine was good. Everyone else said they wouldn't go back. I've never eaten at Texas Land and Cattle, but my daughter said it was very good.

I've been to Lone Star, Montana Mike's and Shorty Smalls. I agree with the poster about Lone Star going downhill. The drinks even seem watered down. I think Montana Mike's had more to choose from then Shorty Smalls but, at both, the food was good and their prices close to the same.

I was not impressed with Montana Mikes - steaks were over cooked, baked potato was cold.........
Texas Land and Cattle is a chain, but everything we've eaten there has been exceptional. MMmm! My vote would be Texas Land and Cattle hands down. |

I guess I am outnumbered, but I prefer Lone Star. I like my steak cooked rare and they are able to get it as rare as I like. Their filet is my favorite.
Shorty Snall's has good foor but, as far as steaks go, I wouldn't put them in the same class with the three steak houses mentioned in this post. Hope whichever you pick, you will get a great steak. Let us know which you picked and how you liked it. |
