Silver Dollar City.....

to my itinerary in November....for one day...into the evening...to see the lights and Christmas themed shows.....any info other than the website would be great....
Like The Brown's Candy Shop what is near it...etc etc....thanks for all your info....this will add quite a bit to the budget, but maybe we can swing it...

The shops are spread throughout the park, as are the shows, but I would say most of the shops are concentrated around the main square. It's all pretty spread out, and built on a hill, but you can definitely work it so you're not walking straight up hill and stop and browse your way around the park.

I'm so looking forward to going back this year. If you put it in your budget, I wouldn't miss it. Everything from the shows to the food offerings is geared towards the holidays. It's very fun. |

You will have to walk quite a bit to see everything, but I think you'll enjoy it a lot more when you're actually there and entranced by the millions of lights and the amazing atmosphere. After tinkering around the main square and the homestead area to the left of the main square, try heading down the big hill on the left side of the park. That's the largest hill in the park, so by starting there you'll only have to go down it. The Christmas shop, Woodcarvers, Basket Shop (relocated), gun smith, nature shop, and interior decorations shop are all in that area, among other things, so it's a great place to start.
After that it's not too hard to swing through what's left of Tom Sawyer's Landing, through the RiverFront, and back up the right side of the park back to the entrance. It's a long way, but there are lots of shops and many opportunities to sit and enjoy the place along the way, so just take it easy. Be sure to stop by the glass blowers, just by Brown's Candy Shop next to the little bridge with the carriage sound effects. They're often passed over, but those glass blowers are a real hoot, and the things they create are pretty amazing.

where there is empty space - so you will be going from shop to shop or shop to attraction or shop to eating establishment. Also there are plenty of benches and low stone walls to sit on if you get tired. I agree, watch the glass-blowers and also watch them make peanut brittle in the candy shop next door.

Thank you all for your replys...my husband and I went back in 1994 or 1995 and we missed alot because we did not know our way around...but one thing we did see then was the Glass Blowers and I think that would be a great thing for my kids to see...also looking forward to the lights of Christmas....just scared I will miss one thing while at another...would love to do the train and hear the Christmas story, see the lights thru the park, maybe even the Charles Dickens story...so glass blowers are near Brown's candy store...two things on my list....

Pathfinder newspapers. It has the up to date schedules for the current week as well as a map of the grounds.
If you get lost or have trouble finding something don't be hesitant to ask a staff member or any people that look like they know what they are doing. I've found it to be a very friendly place. |

that is a must. You don't seem to mind the walking and the hills as much with the cooler weather and all the lights, good food and the most friendly people your ever meet. We always seem to strike up a conversation with someone waiting on the parade. I always seem to find someone to talk high school football with which my DW just loves.
 Can't wait to get down there for Christmas, we never miss it. |
