REVIEW: The Rankin Brothers Classic Music Revue
This show is so much fun for all ages. The energy is contagious to the point that the audience is on their feet doing the "twist" along with everyone on stage! And if you think, "Not me" then think again! My husband said he didn't know how to twist so he won't get up, HA, he was dancin' with the rest of us. I was almost in tears when I saw an elderly lady holding onto her walker while she danced. I loved it.
When Matt Rankin sings "Unchained Melody" everyone is awestruck, jaws dropped, eyes glued to the stage, not a word spoken. Mark Rankin and Rankinette, Lori Kelly-Cathcart, performing Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe" will have you laughing right off your seat. Also, Mark does an Elvis impersonation that could top any "Elvis" in Branson. The Rankin Brothers will amaze you with their harmonies in Simon and Garfunkel's "Sounds of Silence" along with songs of the Everly Brothers. There's something for everyone in this show. Go see them one time and you'll be a fan. This show is my "Red Bull" and I'll go as often as I can to enjoy their energy. Thank you Rankin Brothers for making Branson your home! |

Excellent review. We were at the show Sunday evening. It was the BEST show we have seen in Branson in a long time.

I agree with all you've mentioned but I also like hearing Mark sing Neil Diamond and then hear all the oohs and aahs among the crowd; also when they come out singing the Righteous Brothers' "You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin," the crowd goes wild. But look at all the talent with the Rankinettes; Betsy Cathcart singing lead on, "Leader of the Pack" is terrific. Just as you think there is no way these beautiful ladies can outdo their previous songs they bring the house down with the Mommas and Papas, "This is Dedicated." Later, Lori Kelley gives a superb rendition of, "The Lord's Prayer." Chris Spencer knocks everyones socks off with the most precise and powerful performance I've ever heard of, "It Matters to Me," and that includes the popular version by Faith Hill. The band ranks among the best in the business, anywhere; they play a wide variety of music in this show and do it all impressively. Talk about variety, what about Mark singing, "Starry, Starry Night?" I don't care who you are, that's beautiful music right there. And then what about Bill Reder's vocals and sax playing! There is just too much variety and talent in this show to single out favorite highlights. Even so, when I walk out of the theater I still have a mental picture of Matt playing guitar and doing the Chuck Berry shuffle across the stage on, "Johnny B. Goode."

They perform at the Welk Resort Theatre. There are coupons all around town!! Their area appreciation was earlier in the year. Their shows start back up on September 15th. This is an awesome show and one that you should not miss while in Branson!

Reading all the reviews on this show makes we want to see it when we come down next year.
