I truly hope someone buys it that can restore it to its former beauty. That is probably a long shot though. Shame on the Halls for what they did to the Palace and all its employees. They just ran it into the ground!

What a shame but I hope new owners will make it Grand again. I think the last time we were at the Grand Palace is when the Legends show was there. That must of been in the 90's.

I bet a Church will buy it and it will be yet another Theater make into a Church in Branson. It will be interesting to see what does happen.

I strongly disagree with your statement.

The current owners of the Grand Palace were mis-managing it long before the economy dipped.

Yes, that's reflected in the number of shows cancelled, pending lawsuits, and the overall condition of the property.

I have no doubt that the current economic state played a role - along with mismanagement. But, sure, the economy is tanking and there will be a lot of fall out. Places that had poor management will be the first line to fall.

No Grand Palace has had it's problems way before this year...I hope whoever buys it revamps it and gets alot of talent in it....I remember going there years ago and seeing the Rockettes...what a show and the theater was beautiful...

I, too, hope someone buys it and restores it to its former state. We saw some really good shows there in the past, and we would love to do so in the future.

Its all over

Friends, when the last one leaves and turns out the lights, its all over.

There is no chance any longer in Branson to bring in "the big acts" as they are called. It simply costs too much and only have 4000 seats to sell.

Branson is small potatoes to entertainers now days. When you have to pay almost $30,000 for the Oaks or Charley Pride for ONE day, the profit is not there. Acts like George Jones and Loretta, etc. cost about 3 times that per day.

I know most people won't believe that, but its true, throw in over a thousand dollars a day for heating or cooling, then add payrolls, etc. and its just not there.

My guess is the property will belong to Columbian Bank and Trust Company in Kansas. By the way, the State Director of Finance in the State of Kansas closed all Columbian Banks (CNN report) Friday, August 22 at the end of the business day for having too large a portfolio of delinquent loans. In otherwords the Columbian Bank was no longer solvent enough to suit the Banking officials.

The foreclosure notice is in the legal notices in the Branson Daily News, and it is not rumored, nor is it secret, its PUBLIC BUSINESS now.

For Branson's sake, its a shame its gone. There will never again be the joy of Christmas in Branson like it was when the Rockettes played at the Palace.

Most likely someone will get the property and sit on it awaiting the arrival of the word....g a m b l i n g.

Time will tell.
