Can you take pictures at Dixie Stampede show?

Should I leave my camera behind, or could I take it in with me to get some photos of my family there, as well as the show? I had heard that they take a family photo for you, but I would like to take my own camera in as well. Is that allowed?

They said no photography of any kind, but I saw some sneak a pic with cell phones.

I am pretty sure that you can take pictures at the stables like in front of the horses. I seen people do this last time we went to the DS.

Yes, they do say no cameras allowed. I think they tell you when you pick up your tickets.

I believe I heard them say that the flash from cameras could excite the animals and cause trouble, or cause the performers problems when doing their stunts.

It would actually be very rare for a show which uses live animals to allow flash photography. Because of that, the shows which use live animals will usually say strictly no photography lest someone accidentally forget and use flash. I've seen some animals get startled by a sudden flash from a camera and the reaction is not a pretty sight. Easy for the cast member -- or worse yet, an innocent audience member, depending on the show -- to get hurt, as well as the animal.

Not to regurgitate what everyone else says, but it is true, NO picture taking inside the arena. About 6 years ago I took my camera in and took pictures with the flash off, but they are more strict about it now. Nobody wants the horses to get spooked.

Best to leave the camera outside in the car and take pictures of the horses while in the outdoor stalls. You'll get closer / better pictures of the horses there anyway. Besides, your "utensils" will be dirty and who wants food all over their camera.

Once when I was a member of the press, they allowed me to take my camera. But they gave me a press sticker to put on it.
