Jarrett Dougherty or Paul Harris?

On our recent trip to Branson, we wanted to try some new shows, and having heard that Paul Harris was an outstanding comedian (and better than Jarrett Dougherty) we wanted to judge it for ourselves. In my opinion, there is no contest! Jarrett Dougherty has a full inventory of characters that amaze and delight you. The Pierce Arrow Singers are wonderful, and Jarrett is the icing on the cake. It isn't easy to get my husband to laugh, but Jarrett can make him lose total control. He laughs until tears roll down his face, and he has to hold his sides to ease the pain. We have seen the show at The Pierce Arrow Theater at least 8 times, and are looking forward to going again. I was truly disappointed with Paul Harris's routine--he mainly sat on a sofa and talked. Paul had some funny stories, but is so laid back and soft spoken, that I could have gone to sleep. His show had no energy, and I felt like I was constantly waiting for the punch line. Seeing Paul Harris once was enough for me. Whose your favorite--Paul or Jarrett?

My vote goes to Paul Harris!

He writes and performs his own material.

Use to be Paul Harris, but in the last 5 years Jarrett Daugherty wins my vote hands down!

Paul Harris...he performs two hours, occasionally changes his material and makes us laugh until we are sick. The nights I have been there, the audience has been laughing until they can't breathe. For me the fact that he doesn't have to be in my face to be funny is a plus. Sure is good that there are all kinds of entertainers so we all have shows to enjoy!

I like Jarrett too, just picking my favorite.

Never seen Paul Harris - Jarrett Dougherty is hilarious - he would be hard to beat as a comedian.

Why choose? Can't it be both?

We've seen both guys numerous times, Paul more than Jarrett, and each time we see either, we come away wiping the tears from our eyes! Different styles, but both are top notch! I'll give the edge to Paul though --- he's a headliner all by himself !

My vote would go to Paul! My whole family loves his comedy and we don't miss the opportunity to see him when we can.

shis1 summed it up for me. While I really like Jarrett's bible thumping routine Paul is my favorite overall show. He's as good a bluegrass singer/musician as he is a comedian. And the Cleverly Trio is a riot, especially for any country music fan.

Ever sense I was pretty much born my family and I have came to Branson then when I was in 5th grade we moved here but before then I remember seeing the original Branson Brothers out at Echo Hollow my favorite was Terry Kaufman(not sure if that is the right way to spell his last name). Then we moved and came back and found out he was with Pierce Arrow so I got to know everyone. Paul was with them at the time. I adore Paul and always have. Jarrett is funny to but I favor Paul. Just because I pretty much grew up watching and knowing him. Comedians have their own material like Jarrett has the preacher. "CAN YOU SAY HONOLULU! MAN I WANT TO GO THERE!!" Then Paul does his own thing. I miss when he did the crocodile hunter when Steve Irwin was still alive Paul imitated him very well and I love his singing voice. I got to hear him sing "Baby Write This Down" when he was with Pierce Arrow. I miss that.

I will always favor Paul over anyone. He is one in a million.

I totally agree with you on this. Won't go into details.

Have never seen Jarrett so can't really comment, other than I'd walk a mile to see Paul Harris. I laughed until it hurt! Looking forward to seeing him again this fall. I guess I'll have to add Jarrett to that list, also.
