Jeff Donachy
I was sorry to hear that Jeff Donachy passed away. Jeff has played bass in many shows for years. He was a favorite among many of the musicians in town. He was the type of person that would light up a room when he was around. Always full of energy and life. He will be missed greatly.

Another of the good ones gone. I'm going to have to go back and find a DAT machine and dig up all the studio sessions and jams we did together. Such a great studio player, brought out amazing performances from the OTHER players. The sign of a great musician. |

Jeff, commenting on the effects of the grueling 'two-shows-a-day-seven-days-a-week' schedule that was so common at one time in Branson:
"I am no longer a Musician, I am now just a Note Installer." |

I owed that crazy bastard $50. I'd give an arm to be able to pay him back right now. Really, I owe him much more.
When I was first hired as a stage tech at Shoji's, I was an overwhelmed 20 year old geek. I had no idea what I was doing, and this was the first time I had ever worked an 80+ hour week. The conditions were awful, the hours were insane, and the pay was lousy. Luckily, I made some friends there that changed my life, and Jeff was key among them. I'm not kidding when I say I'm a geek, and Jeff picked up on that fact right away. He read me like a book. During a rehearsal, he hit with with one of the most obscure pop culture references ever. He could see I was tired and stressed, so he came to me and said, "Speak the Charm of Making." Without hesitation, I said, "Anál nathrach, orth’ bháis’s bethad, do chél dénmha." This is in reference to the early 80's movie Excalibur. This event marked the point where Jeff stopped being the bass player and I stopped being another punk kid stage hand and we started being friends. Over the next few years, bottles of Jagermeister, miles of road, jam sessions, sandwich baggies that never held a single sandwich (ahem), and late nights in the parking lot of McGuffeys, I got to know an amazing person. I'll always regret the times when I thought I'd make a road trip out to see him and my other friends still in Branson. Every year I had some excuse. Gas prices, not enough vacation time from my job at the time, the list goes on. Goodbye, Jeff. Say hello to John Blesse for us. Last edited by yakeeb42 : 08-10-2008 at 04:57 PM. |

I only knew Jeff as an audience member but he was a musician who stole your eye away from the main performers just by his big smile and crazy hair styles!

We saw The Entertainers three times last year, and we really enjoyed hearing and watching Jeff. We were disappointed when he didn't come back with the group this year. He will be missed. Prayers for him and his loved ones.

Jeff was one of the musicians at our church in Ozark. It was obvious by his body language that he really "dug" whatever music he was playing. He was a joy to watch and added much to the musical program. There will be a Memorial Mass for him at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church in Ozark on Saturday, August 16 at 10:00 a.m. St. Joseph The Worker is located at 1796 N. State Hwy NN in Ozark.

Apparently, Jeff died in his sleep, "natural causes", just stopped breathing.
