Echo Hollow

Who is at Echo Hollow now, and has Silver Dollar City changed a lot. I am making plans to come to Branson and would like to stop by there.

Great American County is the evening show. Hasn't had many reviews this year.

Major construction going on now with roads and parking. Also construction is going on for a new ride in the Tom Sawyer Landing area.

I went to the show once. Glad it you don't have to pay extra for it. Had I not known a few in the band and cast I would have left early- very early! Echo Hollow hasn't been the same since the mid - late 90s.

Names you may know from the band

Bruce Hoffman
Greg Moody

In the cast

Cassnadra Faimon Haygood
Clint Neivar
Matt Snow

Sorry those are the only names I can think of off the top of my head - I will probably wake up at 3 am with all of them spewing out!

I was at the Echo Hollow show last week. We stayed for the show because it was a beautiful night and gave us the chance to avoid the traffic at closing time. The theatre was not even a l/3 full. The show was just okay, not great. The best talent there was a young girl from Mt. Zion, IL (can't remember her name). With all the money that SDC has, I wish they could bring Echo Hollow back to what it was in the 90's. I don't think it's a lack of talent - they just need a well put together show to pull the crowds back in. What a shame to waste such a beautiful outdoor ampitheater on small crowds.

I have been to SDC 4 or 5 times this summer and it was not crowded at all. We usually went later in the afternoon and stayed for a few hours at a time. It was nice to be able to walk through without getting jostled and especially nice to avoid standing in long lines. I know attendance is down because of the economy but how nice to be able to walk through and look at things instead of a steady stream of people.

We went to it earlier this year twice. Our grands (2 & 4), dd, and we all enjoyed it. We sat in the bench seating so we could spread out and the kids stood in front of us and danced. It was nice it was not filled so the kids could do this with out disrupting anyone but us. Dh and I wanted to enjoy it with out the grands so we attended again in June. It was as enjoyable the 2nd time as it was the 1st time. Both times we felt bad for the cast since Echo Hollow was only partially full as usual.

The only complaint we have is we don't care for Stacy on the piano. We enjoy his playing until he starts “banging” on the piano. Then it reminds us of when our kids were little and they would hit the keys with both hands just to make noise.

Also some disappointment you only hear a few lines of a song and then they change to another. You just start to enjoy it and then it's over. I wish they would sing the songs in their entirety and instead not sing as many. This is not anything wrong with the show, only our preference. Yes, it's not as good as the Branson Brothers, but except for the "banging" on the piano, it is very entertaining. Much better than past shows.

my opinion... Echo Hollow has really went down hill the last few years. last 2 years we left at intermission, this year it rained but we had pretty much decided to skip it. no Chosen Few, no Branson Brothers.... just not the same, as a previous poster said.... sad.

as far as the park changing.... first thing you notice is the drive in and the parking... some big changes there. once inside though it's pretty much the same feel as always, few new rides.

Okie, you are so right! I've tried a few times since Chosen Few left to go and enjoy the show at Echo Hollow, but just can't. While it's been, at times, somewhat enjoyable, it's just not anywhere near the caliber of show it once was. Chosen Few, Branson Brothers -- THOSE were the days at Echo Hollow!

Amen to that!!! I feel bad for some of the musicians and singers - because some (not all) of them have a lot of talent - you just don't really get to see it all that well, because of the show itself.

I agree with whoever posted about Tracy - he does sound like a kid making noise - - - even when he was with Chosen Few - that is when I would go and take a bathroom break and get snacks. Just don't like that at all!!

Yeah, Tracy was never my favorite on the piano. In fact, would MUCH rather listen to Brian Arnold play the piano!

If you wish to see a crammed full Echo Hollow once more then attend the Southern Gospel Music Picnic at SDC, I think it starts 8/28/08 through the 1st week of September. All those seats will definately be used then.

yes, that is the one time of year you can count on Echo Hollow being filled to the brim! I always enjoy the Southern Gospel Music Picnic! Have been looking at the schedule, and my work schedule, trying to figure out how I can fit in all of my favorites. Looks like I'll have to "pick and choose" my two or three top favorites! Probably The Martins, Jeff & Sherri Easter and Karen Peck and New River.
