Our trip

We went to Branson last Monday, and we had a great time.

First stop was the chamber of commerce building to draw for our stimulus tickets. I drew 50s at the Hop. Then my Dad was behind me, and he drew 50s at the Hop as well.

We saw them that night, in their new theater at Branson Meadows, and it was very good. It had been 6 or 8 years since I'd seen them.

Had supper that night at Shorty Smalls (on 165) and it was excellent as usual.

The next morning we had breakfast at the Belgian Waffle house.

Lunch at Dairyland. We could hardly get a table!

I saw News Country show that afternoon. Mr. New is a good entertainer and his musicians were top-notch. He had a very good suggestion. He asked that when you are in Branson, see one "little" show.

I think this is a good idea. They are completely different from the big shows--no light show, no fog, no effects, (sometimes no costume change), but they stand on their music. I've seen several "little" shows over the past few visits, and I always enjoy them. For me, it's always about the music.

Supper that night was at Olive Garden. The waiting list was long (usually we eat about 5, but shopped till 6 that day), so we sat in the bar to eat and had excellent service, and the food was good.

The show that night was The Rankin Brothers. I really enjoyed it. They had put a lot of effort into the show, from musicianship, to costumes to backdrops.

But the highlight of the trip was the next morning. We always go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, and this time there was some horrible odor, that you could smell even in the parking lot. I don't know if they intended it to smell like that, or if someone spilled something or what. I have chemical sensivities, so I just turned around and left.

We went to try Billy Gails. Wow, what food, and what service! We will be going back. The pancakes ARE the size of hubcaps, and everything was wonderful. I WILL be going back.

Anyway, if anyone is interested a posted a couple of pics on my blog at:

I hope everyone else is having good times in Branson!

I hadn't heard of Billy Gail's either, until earlier this year.

It's on 265. Just head west on 76, like you're going to Silver Dollar City. When you get to the light at highway 265, turn left. It's just a little ways ahead on the right. It's not that far out of town, and the food is out of this world.

Have fun, and let us know what you think.

Link taken from a thread a bit further down the page. The promotion ended the end of July.
