St. Louis?

We have just returned from our family vacation to Orlando. We had a great time at the parks, beach, Kennedy Space Center and Daytona Speedway, but believe it or not, all my boys are sad because we aren't coming to Branson this year (so am I)!
We have decided to do 2 "smaller" vacations next year. We already have reservations for a week in Branson, but are trying to decide another 5-6 day idea. We have never been to St. Louis and I want my boy to see the arch before he goes into 4th grade. I have seen pictures of hotel rooms that overlook Busch Stadium.......any idea which hotels those were? Any other items for a 9 year old and 4 year old?

One of the other hotels that overlooks Busch Stadium is the Marriott. A couple of idea's of thing to do in St. Louis would include - - The St. Louis Zoo, Grant's Farm, St. Louis Science Center, Six Flags, The Muny (if there is a kid's show playing), City Museum, Missouri Botanical Gardens.

I think the Marriott that looks into Busch Stadium is now the Hilton, but not 100% sure!

I'd definitely look into the Science Center - it's really neat for both kids and adults alike!

My 4-year old nephew really enjoyed The Magic House, too!

If a hotel near Busch Stadium is out of your price range, you might consider the Hampton Inn Forest Park. It's just doors away from the Science Center, and it's a fairly new (2005?) building. GREAT breakfast, GREAT rooms, AWESOME beds. I would have taken one home with me if I could.

I really enjoy St. Louis - some days, I wish I lived there.

I agree with what others have said: The St. Louis Zoo is amazing (free too except for some of the exhibits), Grant's Farm, Six Flags, The Science Center, Magic House, Powder Valley Nature center.

The Arch has a small museum too and you can ride up to the top of the arch in a little pod if you are so inclined. My daughter and my husband loved it, but I was too claustrophobic to go.

St. Louis is full of free stuff to do......

the Zoo is free except for the childerns zoo, train and some shows.

The sciene center is free except for the imax and space show but they are pretty inexpensive.

Grants farm is free except for parking....and it includes free beer.

the art museum and history museum is free.

You can take free brewery tours at Busch, we loved this as kids...the bottling plant is fasinating.

the city Museum is not free but sooooo worth it.

Little kids love the magic house....adults get bored fast.

I don't know which way you are coming from but just south of stl on 44 is meramec caverns, big hit with the kids and adults.

St. Louis also has Six Flags.

If you need any other recomadations Pm me i have lived here most of my life adn have worked in tourism for what feels like longer.

Don't miss the Zoo & City Museum. The zoo is wonderful, but City Museum, it's like nothing you've ever seen before. Well worth the price for a whole day of fun and amazement. A word of warning though...parents get ready for some heart stopping sights that contain your child, the side of a building, some netting and um... a long slide 50 feet above the pavement.

Steve, you can take one of the beds home with you. Well not literally but you can buy one. We did and love it! I asked the Hampton Inn in Branson about buying one and they gave me the information. They are a bit pricy but oh so worth it.
