Dogwood Canyon or Shepard of the Hills

We are coming to Branson in early August for 8 days. I am familiar with Branson, having visited every other year for several years. Last year was our off year, but we stopped through after picking up our son from Fort Sill in Oklahoma. Because of the high cost of gas, we are not bringing our boat this year, instead driving my more economical car.

A priority of this vacation is rest at our resort combined with some entertainment. We are planning to see Dixie Stampede (have never seen the show, but always wanted to do this) and Silver Dollar City (love the park).

I have read information on both Dogwood Canyon and Shepard of the Hills. For any readers who have visited both of these places, which do you recommend? If we do Dogwood Canyon, we will plan to purchase the Adventure pass for a full day of entertainment. If we do Shepard of the Hills, we will probably just do the evening show. We do not have the time to do both activities. Thank you in advance for your input.

Looking forward to Branson from central Illinois. I was not sure if I should have posted on this board or attractions, so tossed a coin and picked this one.

Welcome to the board, Carol!

I'm from central Illinois too.

Our family has only seen part of Shephard of the Hills.
We went up the tower w/ beautiful views of the scenery, toured the gift shops, and
went to a dinner show there.
We did not spend the entire day there.
Many people attend every year, but it just was not our cup of tea.

We have been to Dogwood Canyon on 3 different trips
and it is a very relaxing day.

Beautiful scenery, bring a picnic lunch.
One teenaged niece did kayaking on one trip.

Another trip we took the bikes for the day for 2 teens, DH, and I....I had not been on a bike in years and it was great.

Fishermen love the fishing.

We have taken the tram tour 3 times - on each trip and enjoyed it thoughly.

That's our family.

Am certain others will share more with you on their thoughts.

Even on the hottest days, there are cool locations here outdoors.

Dogwood Canyon is a really neat, get away from it all place to be....Shepard of the Hills is also great....I love them both...so I guess it would be a matter of preference....If ya want the more realaxed atmosphere and nature...go for the Dogwood Canyon experience, you shouldn't be disappointed with either of them.....
