Advice on Gulf Shores on the 4th of July
We went to Gulf Shores last August for a week and had a wonderful time. It's only 8 hours away from us, and I would love to go again. The only available time however, would be July 4-6 (Short Trip)
My question is: Is it Super Crowded on that holiday weekend, or would it still be enjoyable for us? Thanks in advance for your help! |

I would say it's as crowded as you might think it would be but I don't know how the gas prices will affect that. It's a great beach destination for many in the Midwest. If you haven't made lodging reservations right now you might want to start calling to see what's available - that might also give you some idea of how busy it'll be.
But, three-day holiday weekend + beach = busy. Usually.

Gulf shores isn't ever so busy as not to get around easy.
I have been there during labor day, The beaches were busy, but not nothing to cause me not to have a good time. Just remember that if you go out to eat, do it between 2;30 AND 5:00 PM You miss the crowds , and while everyone is eating dinner, you have the pool and beach more to yourself.. Great way to enjoy it more. Don't miss out, The beach is calling................. ![]() |

We were there the 4th a few yrs. ago, and it was somewhat crowded, but not so much that you couldn't enjoy it. Like Ford says....to avoid the traffic, there are back roads, and go out to eat at times that you would think others would be on the beach. We were there Memorial Day this year, and it was a bit crowded, but the next day, everything was back to normal.

http://www.brett-robinson.com Their phone number is in the upper right hand corner, give them a call and they can let you know what's available and you can see pictures of the properties on their site.

Also you might want to look at www.vrbo.com
Owners give you better rates, But with such short notice, you may have a hard time getting something easily thru an owner.. Do know that rates are higher during the 4th of july than usual...... |

Also try www.homeaway.com - I like their site better than VRBO's, as you get a thumbnail picture with the headline, and you can narrow down the homes and condos by bedrooms, bathrooms, location, and amenities. Our friends found an excellent deal on there for the week of the fourth - a 2 bed/2 bath condo for only $600!

We like Brett-Robinson also. The Phoenix Condos are our favorite. Lots of amenities, plus a nice condo. They have Phoenix I thru X, and they are all nice. We have stayed in III, V, and VI. They did have a special stay 3 nights get the 4th free.
