Hershey PA & Strasburg PA
Has anyone been to these cities in Pennsylvania? I see they have an amusement park in Hershey and was wondering if anyone had been? Any comments?

been there a few times - but it's been a while. cute town - the street lights are in the shape of Hershey Kisses. The park is a standard amusement park - the kids will love it. Don't forget to tour the Chocolate Factory whilst you're there. Mr. Hershey did a lot for that town and was quite a philanthropist.
Then of course Strasburg is in the heart of Lancaster county - Amish country. good eating - hand made quilts/furniture etc. When are you going? It's absolutely spectacular there in the fall when the leaves are turning. |

I was born in Chester County PA, which is very close to these places!! October is beautiful there.....I even went on a class trip to the Strausburg Railroad. It is so cool to see all of the Horse and Buggies in Amish Country!!! YOu should give it a try!

I live 2.5 miles out of Strasburg. We really have some neat things here to do. If you do come - make sure you visit Intercourse PA - Kitchen Kettle Village. Neat little shops and lots of homemade foods. And of course we have the original Sight & Sound Theatre - which will have a different show than Branson at the same time period. The Strasburg Railroad runs right behind our house (the house even shakes sometimes from it). We also have all the outlet stores - Rockvale Square and Tanger Outlet.
Hershey Park is your typical park - something like 6 Flags. All the big rides and entertainment. We also have Dutch Wonderland (owned by Hershey - but in Lancaster County). It has the smaller rides and a water chute and smaller kids shows. We have a few mini golf parks and a bigger indoor water park in Lancaster County. Hope you can make it in and if you do - pm me and I will recommend some very good eating places!!! |

Try these websites:
www.padutchcountry.com www.lancastercounty.com www.padutchcountry.com 800padutch.com/hicenter.html These will at least get you started. The visitor center should have a 800 number to call and request information sent to you. |

We lived in MD until last Summer. Our Son went to College in Millersville, PA.
It is beautiful country. If you go to Hershey Park make sure you take the tour of the factory. It is before you enter the park. I believe it is still free. It is not the real factory but coll none the less. Since this is your Anniversary I would recommend the horse drawn carriage tours of the town of Hershey. It is so beautiful and that time of year even more so. We did the trolley tour of the town because we had a 4 year old and 2 teenagers with us. Hershey has a beautiful Hotel too! We peaked inside but did not stay there. Always planned to if we went back. They are very pricey though!! Hotel Hershey and Hershey Lodge. They have a campground as well. The campground has cabins that you can rent. http://www.hersheypa.com/index.html |

If you are into history - don't forget Gettysburg is only about 1 1/2 hrs from Lancaster and then there is Philadelphia to see the Liberty Bell and so on. There is alot to see within a 60 mile radius of Lancaster.

Don't klnow if it's still there or not, but many years ago dh was on a business trip in that area, and went to the Dooney Bourke Handbag Outlet! Brought back 3 handbags --- one for me and each of our 2 daughters! That shop would be a 'must do' for me if I got to Hershey, Pa.
