We're back from Gulf Shores!
Our family (two daughters and their families) arrived in Gulf Shores Sunday afternoon, after 10 hrs. of driving. It was pouring down rain when we arrived, but the sun came out shortly after we arrived, and we had sunny skies all week. We stayed at the Lighthouse condo on the beach. We stayed on the 19th floor in the Penthouse! Our song for the week was the theme song to the old "Jeffersons" show on tv, "we're moving on up to the East side, to a deluxe apartment in the sky". We sang this all week long, and the younger children thought we were a little crazy!
The view from the top was amazing! We saw dolphins swimming in the early morning. We had lots of seagulls flying by, and had several pelicans that would visit us during the day. The elevator was a problem at times, since one of the two that we could use was out of order. The teenagers walked to the new "Hangout" that recently opened on the main drag in Gulf Shores. They lilked the music, and the hamburgers weren't too bad either. They went to the local waterpark "Waterville" for one of the days that we were there. Most of the days were spent on the beach, or on the balcony, beach watching. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful. We did shop at the Tanger outlet mall in Foley, and found lots of bargains there. We cooked in the condo, and ate out several times. Our favorite place to eat is Lulu's (Jimmy Buffett's sister). We ate lunch there twice, and had a family supper there our last night. We did have a wait for supper, but walked right in at lunch. We also ate at "Fish Tales" at the new Wharf, but I was very dissappointed in this place. The shrimp baskets were loaded with grease! We ate a late supper at the "Sea n Suds" on the beach next to our condo, and it has supper sea food. I highly recommend it. The margaritta's are good there also. I did not eat at the Hang Out, but the teens did, and they said the burgers were okay. The band was very loud coming from the Hang out, and can be heard for blocks away. It was a very relaxing trip, other than the long drive to and from. The beach was beautiful, the skies were blue, and the waves were just perfect for boogy boarding (until the jellies moved in on the third day). The Gulf Shores...Orange Beach area is a great family destination. We will be back. All and all is was a great trip. Fordarama is going in a few days, and I know she is going to have a great time. Hope the weather is great for you guys too. I tried to upload a picture but it tells me I have exceeded the amount allowed.???????

I am so happy you guys had a great time,
I was thinking of you all week,,, We love lu lu's too, Sometimes it is a bit to loud with the band. We have never ate at sea and suds, but we are going to this year... I saw that the burgers are really cheap, they get great reviews. I wish we were up a bit higher, We are only on the third floor, I got such a great deal and the owners have chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, robes, I thought they offered alot for the money, So I had to sacrafice the floor I am staying on. As far as the pictures go, If you have some in your gallery already, you will have to post directly from a url, I exceded mine with my gallery pictures, So I use photobucket and direct link them.. And I can post pictures all I want that way... Back to gulf shores, I told hubby we are moving there after son gets out of high school. I will have to bring mom and dad too... I can't live without them,,, I can find work easy, And we will just live in a RV, That way if a hurricane comes, we can just move everything we own, and come back after it is over..LOL...... Did ya get that great tan??? I already have mine.... ![]() |

Ford.... I did get a little tan. Hubby got a good sunburn the first day on the beach, and he spent lots of time in the condo reading a book. He really needed a rest anyway.
I have tried to post pics, but just gave up! I think it would be fun to live there also, but then where would we go for vacation? Branson!!!!!! The price of homes in the area are outrageous, and the insurance is completely ridiculous because of the hurricanes. I will never be able to live there, and the RV idea is a good one! Hope you all get to visit Gulf Shores someday.... It is a beautiful place.
