The Avondale's at Club 57
Club 57 has added a new group for Sunday nights. The group is called the Avondales. There are six musicians: piano, drums, lead guitar/vocals, bass guitar/vocals and two female vocalists. The music they do is primarily 50's and 60's rock.
We were quite impressed with their sound. The four vocalists take turns doing lead and backup, so you get a good variety of voices. One thing we enjoyed was that they do not try to imitate the original artists. They are doing classic rock, but doing it their own way. For instance, Gina Phillips did Del Shannon's "Runaway" but she did it at different tempo from the original and in her own style. The group will be at Club 57 starting at 10:00 on Sunday nights. They will also fill in for Sting Ray Anthony when he is away on road trips. They are scheduled to be playing this Wednesday at 11:00. We feel The Avondales are a fine addition to the lineup at Club 57. This gives the club a full slate of rock bands: Sunday The Avondales; Monday The Jam Doctors, Tuesday thru Friday Sting Ray Anthony; Saturday The Horn Dawgs. It is no secret that Club 57 is our favorite late night place in Branson. You will find any of these groups worth listening to. |

I enjoy going to Club 57, I wish it wasn't so smokey in there. I hope I don't offend anyone by saying that. Sorry if I did. I've seen Sting Ray and others perform there before, but I've never seen the Horn Dawgs.

I believe the atrium area at Andy Williams Moon River Grill (where the groups perform) is all non-smoking. You can step out the back door to an outside smoking area. This is one reason we like to go there.

Sorry Branson Bluesman--every bar, restaurant and other public places in Minnesota are smoke-free! They passed a law last year here and I think Iowa has now passed the same laws. It's great, we are going to places we have avoided for years!

Hi oldbranhand,
Thanks so much for getting the word out about The Avondales at Club 57. We are excited to bring some much needed Sunday Evening Entertainment to town. However I just heard that we will not be performing this wed evening...I am not really sure of the details perhaps Ray Anthony is back in town? However The Avondales are happy to announce that we will be performing every Sunday evening from 10pm to 12pm throughout the year. And Yes Branson Bluesman the arrangement we used for "Runaway" was the Bonnie Raitt version with a Kick! Hope to see you all at Club 57 Gina Phillips The Avondales and Blue Holiday You can find me at Club 57 during the following times...Love to meetcha Blue Holiday Acoustic Duo every Thurs, Fri, Sat 9pm ish to 10:30 pm ish The Avondales every Sunday 10pm - 12pm |
