Horizons

Just completed a 4 day/3 night stay at this resort. I was looking for a little nicer place to stay to spend our rebate check money and this resort is listed as number 1 in branson according to tripadvisor- so we took a shot and will never stay anywhere else again, For 108.00 per night ( less than clarion, hilton, and chateau) we got 800 feet of space with a king bed and pull out couch for the kids. We had two TVs and a dvd player. And a FULL kitchen with all appliences and tableware ( saved a lot on meals). And the best part were the activites for the family all day long from free games ( pool, etc) to craft activities to the three indoor pools ( the outside pools open this weekend and are fed by a waterfall).
For the price and all that you get this is indeed the best value in Branson.

IMO, anytime we are going to stay for more than a day, it's worth the money to stay in a condo instead of a hotel. We save more by eating in, than by staying cheaper.

I assume you mean Horizons by Marriott.

Since it is a timeshare resort, how is it that you are getting it on a per day basis? How did you book it?

It is nice, but not so nice that it should be #1 on tripadvisor, or anything else, as there are many comparable resorts in the Branson area. When I rank/rate Branson timeshares, I try to avoid that sort of thing, since it is very subjective.

I prefer rankings such as good, better, more better, etc.

Or lake, golf, shows.

I booked on their website- if the villas are not occupied for a timeshare the rooms are treated as a hotel- we also were not forced into any pitch or sales presentations.

I agree that rankings can be subjective- but trip advisor has a pretty rigid set of factors and of all locations in branson- travelers for the last two years have given it the best ranking. Check out the reviews for yourself.

I have to say that I'm a former travel agent and have stayed at probably 30 hotels or more in Branson over the years and Horizon's is one of the nicest I've ever stayed at. I have stayed numerous times and have just booked it as I would any hotel, never as a timeshare tour. I think most people would be pleased with this hotel/resort.

I'm not saying it's not nice. It is nice.

I am saying that it is not nicer than Big Cedar Wilderness Club, for instance, or several others. There are several that are, perhaps, equally nice.

What I am saying is that if someone is accustomed to staying in hotels and motels, especially lesser ones of those, staying in one of many timeshare resorts in the Branson area would be nice in comparison. So would many of the nightly rental condos and lodges.

Branson has a lot of nice accomodations and also an abundance of lesser motels.

To be #1 on TA, Horizons must be living up to people's expectations. At least the ones that provide trip reports. I am a Marriott rewards member and it pops up when I search Branson properties. I have looked at it several times, but it always seems to be booked when we want to stay.

Big Cedar is certainly impressive. We have be fortunate enough to stay twice. The first time was in a private cabin (awesome!). The second was for a conference in a standard room in Valley View Lodge. OK room, but it was just a typical hotel/motel room with very thin walls. Two very different experiences. Needless to say, if the opportunity presents itself, we will not stay in a standard room again at Big Cedar. Just for grins , I looked at Big Cedar for a weekend this summer. $335 a night for Falls Lodge.

TA can be quirky. I look at for Orlando every now and then.

Sometimes the opposite of what we are saying here happens. Sometimes very nice timeshare resorts get bad reviews, I believe because they lack some of the perks offered by traditional lodging, such as daily room cleaning and towels and someone to bring them stuff when they want it.

Some people like the pampering and attention they get at better traditional lodging, and dislike having to care for themselves in what amounts to an apartment for the week.

OTOH, most TS owners seem to prefer the freedom of their apartment for the week, where they pick up their keys and no one bothers them the rest of the week.

During our three day stay we had room service, cleaning and a staff bending over backwards for no additional costs. We had the perks of standard lodging with the added luxury of resort offerings for the cost of an upscale room in the area.

More contemporary timeshare operations do have daily services. When TS went to a points basis, many of them began offering daily reservations. With that came daily services, every day check-in/check-out, the traditional lodging style operation.

Those resorts still operating in the originaly weekly mode typically only offer mid-week towel exchange.

As far as service, timeshares vary from virtually none at all to the high level you describe at Marriott. Yes, Marriott is one of the more elite brands, like Disney, Hyatt and Hilton.

We stayed at Horizons for part of our stay in Branson. It was so gorgeous. The condo/ts we stayed in had not been used before, so it was really nice. We are planning on going back for Christmas.

Glad you had a good time- It is the best place to stay for value and services that I have found in the area. Hope the outside waterfall pools and hot tubs open soon!
