THERE WOULD BE NO REFUND.I DIDN'T PUT MONEY UP FOR ANY SHOW THAT I HAVE RESERVED I HAVE 20 SHOWS RESERVED FOR JUNE.WHY WOULD I NOT GET A REFUND IF SOMETHING HAPPENED,THAT I COULDN'T MAKE IT TO BRANSON AFTER ALL.

This very question has been discussed (& cussed) multiple times on this forum.....some of the theaters, for their own financial "defense" have started a "pay-in-advance.....no refunds" policy......because too many people have repeatedly made unsecured reservations for tix, & then never followed through with their part of the verbal contract, by not paying for the tickets.

Any other show/play/concert I have attended, always has a "pay-when-you-reserve" ticket policy, such as ticketmaster......that is just good business.....

Very good explanation! Thank you!! The old "reserve-now-pay-later" was a good idea, and one which worked well in the past. But too many of the theaters have indeed been burned over and over again by people making reservations and then not showing up and not cancelling. A number of theaters in town have changed their policies this season. I do know, however, that while there may some which may espouse say a 72-hour cancel policy, many of those same theaters are actually willing to concede there are often extenuating circumstances and will look at that policy on a case-by-case basis. If you call to reserve tickets for a show anywhere OTHER than Branson, you will most likely find yourself paying in advance and there usually is absolutely no cancellations/no refunds for any reason.

Then, take your business to the places that comply with your wishes of dealing with cash only........that's what I would do....but, don't complain when you run into a business that wants a reservation/tix secured with a credit card.

I can't comprehend not having/using a credit card in today's world. I use mine all the time, esp. when traveling. I pay the bill in full, every month & never! use a cr cd to get cash.

Ah, I see. Yeah it only works for credit cards. Yeah I know it all but thats what I must go by at work also. Hope something works out for you though. I have seen Celebrate America with Branson Dad and we need to get the review up and we are going to do it soon. It was a good show.

Note above I posted more show happening this year.

Ain't that the truth! I've had one since '85 and have evolved to where I hardly carry any cash at all. We've paid it off every month except for one and that was due to forgetfulness. It also pays 1% credit for every purchase and 3% off all gasoline sales. That is nothing to sneeze at now days.

Can I make a suggestion for those who, like myself, don't use a credit card? I put money on a pre-paid Visa card. It's a debit card. It works just like a credit card when I want to make reservations for anything. As long as you have the money on the card when you make the reservations, there is no problem. I reserve hotel rooms, rental cars, and show tickets this way. You do have to keep in mind when using one for a hotel room or a rental card that the company you're working with will put a hold on the card until several days after you've checked out or returned the card. But if that is all you're using the card for, it's no big deal. It's essentially the best of both worlds because you're still dealing strictly with cash, but it works just like a credit card. Just a thought.

Same here! We buy everything we can with our DISCOVER or MasterCard cards, pay the bills in full every month, and have NEVER used them to get cash. And, we get money back every year for using the cards, usually around $500. I call that "funny money" because it is a "gift."

I have credit cards - but I prefer to use my debit card or cash.

The price of everything from gas, groceries to motel rooms seem to have sky rocketed. I paid $50 to put gas in my CAR this w/end, and we've quit filling up the truck, it is nauseating to put so much money into it at once. I don't want to learn at the end of the month, that I can't pay the credit card off, and have to pay interest on my gas. With cash, I have a large visual reminder that when it's gone, it's gone...and it happens much more often lately than normal!

I keep every receipt & check it against my paper statement & I also keep track of my account on line.

I, too, get a 1% rebate @ the end of the year.....comes in handy for Xmas....

I don't think our problem is so much self discipline as it is 'ouch factor'. I hate the realization that we've put $600 in gas in the vehicles for the month, just to get to and from work... it's just less painful to spend my money a little bit at a time, instead of ONE big minus in the checkbook.

I also find that dh is better at telling me about a debit than a credit card purchase.... probably because he knows it takes effect immediately. I might feel differently about it if it were just me... but likely not - I HATE owing someone money, even if it's just for 30 days, and even if I might get money for it later. I will/do occasionally use my cc, but I hate doing it!
