Nashville TN.........
I'm going to visit my late husband's sis in Nashville on the 15th for 2/3 weeks. I go there 4/5 times a year.
Does anyone have any suggestions for "locally owned" restaurants that we can try? There used to be a place called TJ's that was wa-y-y downtown by a hospital. It had the best "soul food" anyone could want!!! It was an old house converted into a neighborhood restaurant...atmosphere......! Unmatched tables/chairs, oil cloths on the tables, all kinds of old photos on the walls of the owners & family, worn out linoleum on the floor....I'm sure you get the pic. The food was so-o-o good. "Down home" cookin'. No doors on the kitchen......Huge pots on the big stoves & big guys stirrin' the pots. You walked in, got into the line, grabbed a plate & had it filled "school cafeteria style", got your own drink & mismatched table service.......We loved it! There were always a lot of medical personnel in there eating, too. |

Thank you for your replies........
I have been to Cock/Walk several times; it's a chain, you know....also, been to Jack's BBQ, & the bluebird, several years ago. Is bluebird still open ????? Used to go to "Unca' Buds" for fish, but they're closed, now.... ![]() Been to Loveless Cafe on hyw. 100 west of town, it's been there since the 40s/50s....& we will go there, again, this trip. Their biscuit maker has been interviewed on travel channel & food network. You can watch her work through a big window in the kitchen.... www.lovelesscafe.com We'll do Broadway & see who's playing there. Have tix for Gr Ol Opry on Sat. 16th. Plan to check out Nashville Nightlife Theater & Nashville Palace to see who's there, if these places are still open.....S.i.l lives in Nashville, but does not get out & about to know what's goin' on in town...... ![]() Will check out pucketts.... I'm still open for more ideas...... Last edited by Crazy4Branson : 05-05-2008 at 07:19 PM. |
