Any luck with hotwire or priceline?

We have decided to come to Branson a day early and cannot get the condo that we rented through VRBO for the earlier night, so I need to get a hotel room for 1 night. I thought about giving hotwire or priceline a try with the name your price thing they have, but was a little apprehensive as to what hotel I would get since you do not know what hotel you get until you have already paid. Just wondering if anyone else had used either one and if you were happy with the result. Thanks.

I never use priceline. It use to be they pick your hotel. I want to pick my hotel. Maybe they don't do that anymore. My sister has used hotwire and yahoo travel with good luck. You can try www.interstatetravelbuddy.com or www.travelcoupons.com if you're looking for a cheaper hotel. Good luck

Yep..use priceline alot...as a matter a fact.....I put in for a 5 star hotel...there is only one in Branson...Chateau on the Lake...and got that baby for 50.00 a night....it was off season so....that helped....and was that ever fun.....lol........if it denys your request, you have to change things up.....like add 4 star hotel and up the price 5 dollars.....once you ask for the hotel request, you are locked in.....should they find a hotel that accepts your offer.....it's paid for by your credit card at that moment.....no changing of dates or anything....you go or you're out of the money.......

Rare to find bargains unless off-season

I have used hotwire before and saved $100 a night on a Chicago hotel. It is always dicey as to the quality of the accommodations. If they call it a 4 star, it's really more like a 2 star in AAA ratings. I have yet to see a good deal for Branson hotels. You're more likely to find a deal on www.interstatetravelbuddy.com or www. reservebranson.com or on the hotel's website.

I have used Priceline a LOT, but not more than a few times for Branson. I'm not sure they even have the resort area listed at Priceline, but when they did, I was sucessful several times getting Chateau for $41/night. (it's been several years since I was sucessful with that though)

If you are interested in using Priceline, I'd check out bidding for travel's website for suggestions and ideas what to expect. I don't think you'll find anything via Priceline for less than $35/night, and you won't know what you've got until you have it - so it might be worth spending another $5 or so, and KNOWING what you're getting. ???? Or, for some, it's not knowing, and the element of surprise that lures them to Priceline.

Without a coupon, we stayed at Whispering Hills recently for $52, for a king, N/S room - I know their double queen rooms were less. I'd definately check out the travel buddy coupons before I bid on Priceline for Branson. (but I've gotten some FANTASTIC deals elsewhere!)
