Something just for kids

I was wondering if anyone could help with this. My wife and I are coming to Branson with our 2 year old son the week of May 12. We are going to SDC and Dixie Stampede, but I was wondering if there was any place "just for kids" in town. We would love to take our son somewhere he could have a lot of fun. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My granddaughters, 2 & 4, LOVE the Landing, and the water features there - and there is a little kids carnival ride spot on 76 called "Kids Country" I think, that has child size rides.

Our boys love Kids Kountry, too. Be sure to measure your 2 year old before you go - you MUST be the minimum height, and they won't fudge it, either. I believe it is 36" tall for most of the rides. You can buy a pass early - just $15 for 2 hours of anything he wants to do there. Of course, their mini-golf course has no height requirement. http://www.bransontracks.com/kids_rides.asp

Don't bother with Playtime Pizza. The games are geared toward ages 6 and up.

Be sure to go to Dixie Stampede early to check out the stables.

Branson Landing is a good one. They have a Build-A-Bear Workshop that he would probably like.

Don't forget about Ride-the-Ducks! Since you only have one child (we went with our 4 yr., 2 yr., and 2 mo. old boys), it'll be easier to keep him from climbing out the windows (our 2 year old refused to sit still - especially on the lake since he wanted to get in the water!).

Smile Just for kids

Our grandkids were here over spring break. We took them to amazing pets and they seemed to enjoy themselves. It is a morning show at the Grand Country. They also played mini golf there. It is indoors so the weather is never an issue.

The two places I think of as being truly just for toddlers are Geyser Gulch at Silver Dollar City -- basically a 3 story ball pit -- and the little playground by Joe's Crab Shack at the Landing. Our first few trips were when my youngest was still a toddlers (18 months and 2 1/2) and we would not have enjoyed those trips nearly as much if we hadn't stayed at Grand Country Inn. We went in the summer and I spent hours laying in the shallow water at the outdoor water play area, while she just sat in the water and played. So if you don't have a place to stay, I highly recommend Grand Country for that age.

At Silver Dollar City, don't miss "The Grand Exposition" area of the park. Most of it is geared to small kids with rides for the kiddies and fun.

There is a toy museum on 76 near White Water. I have never been there, but I want to tour it so bad. Has anyone ever been through the toy museum and can give us a review of it?

The hatchery is also a great place although it's not just for kids. My kids loved viewing the spiders and fish and then feeding the fish in the pools. With the new bird covers it's a whole lot safer for the young ones too.

Thank you everyone for all of your help. I will definately try Kids Kountry, and I hadn't even thought about the ducks. Also, what part of SDC is Geyser Gulch in. We have been to SDC a few times but I am having trouble remembering where that is at. Thanks.

Standing at the gazebo after entering the park, head right down the hill, past the train and around the corner (going left) by the barn. Follow that on down and you can't miss it. It's before you get to the Lost River of the Ozarks water ride.

And I second (or fifth) Kid's Kuntry.

If you don't have a room booked yet, I also recommend Grand Country Inn. That is, if your son likes water. It has a great indoor waterpark with a section just for toddlers. We took our DD when she was 3 and she didn't want to leave!

Local parks can be a cheap way to have fun!

My kids enjoy themselves at Stockstill Park on James Epps Road. The park has great playground equipment, tennis courts, a skateboard park, and a stream where you can hunt for crawdads. It is free! The city's Aquatic Park has zero depth splash areas for toddlers--very reasonable rates. Dogwood Canyon is also a good option if you like to bike and see natural scenery. They have pull carts that attach to bicycles for younger children. They also have a tram tour that takes you through the park and a wildlife area. It is a little bit of a drive from Branson, but has beautiful Ozarks scenery along the walking/bike trails.

Here is a simple (and free) thing that kids like. We go to the edge of the lake by the Dam Visitor Center. They have a path to walk along, and our kids enjoy looking for lizards and throwing rocks into the lake. The visitor center itself has a few 'hands on' activities, and a few small animals on display. We go every year and let our kids run around. It won't fill the whole day of course, but we visit on our way to Branson Belle.

Have Fun!!

Went there on vacation a couple years back with my son. It was not worth the cost. We were very disappointed.
