Florida Trip
My husband, his sister, and I just got back from a trip to Florida. The weather was in the mid 80's each day. That was great, since we had left northern Maine where we still had about 4 foot snow banks. We spent a day at Epcot and enjoyed the Flower and Garden Show. We went to Soarin, Test Track, Universe of Energy, Listen to the Land, Spaceship Earth (it has some new scenes and renovations), Mexico (it has been renovated too, but I liked the previous ride better), Finding Nemo at the Living Seas (I'm glad we didn't have to wait for this one, as I don't think it is worth a long wait), and China.
We also went to Sea World for a day. It was very busy. The Pets Ahoy show was closed that day. We also had to wait for the show with the whales and dolphins, as the 11:00 show was full when we arrived. We saw the circus show, the whales and dolphins show, rode the Wild Arctic simulator, and saw Clyde and Seymour show (sea lions). The mime was still there. He is always fun to watch before the show begins. Magic Kingdom was the third theme park we attended. We went to Pirates of the Caribbean (some new renovations here), Country Bear Jamboree, the Haunted Mansion (some new scenes here, also), It's A Small World, Mickey's Philharmonic 3-D show, the Carousel of Progress, and the Transportation Authority. We also saw a very short Family Day Parade. The parade had a band, and two floats with some characters (Daisy, Chip & Dale, Pluto, and Claribelle the Cow), and some families were chosen to be in the parade. We drove to Merritt Island one day and went on the Island Tours boat ride. This ride was 2 hours long. We saw dolphins, manatees, and many birds. It was very enjoyable and cost about $25. We ate at two dinner shows. Wonder Works Magic and Comedy Dinner Show was great. I enjoyed the pizza, salad, popcorn, soda, and chocolate cake. I also enjoyed the show. It was well worth the $20 pp we spent. We also went to Arabian Nights. The show and the food have changed some since I was there last. I had the NY steak with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes. There was also a salad, a roll, and ice cream drizzled with chocolate sauce. We bought tickets at Billy Boy's on 192 Irlo Bronson Highway and only spent about $27 pp. I think this was a good deal for a meal and a show. We also ate at the Golden Corral in Kissimmee. This is one of my very favorite restaurants. We've been to many of these restaurants in other places as well, and they have always been good. We had one bad meal. It was at the Las Vegas Buffet in Kissimmee. This was our third time going to this restaurant. They serve Chinese and Italian food. The first time we went (many years ago) it was good. The second time it was ok. This time I gingerly ate the food and hoped for the best. No one got sick, so I guess it was ok, but we won't be back. I had a wonderful time on this trip. I always enjoy travelling. kteacher |

Thanks for the review. It's been about 20 years since I last went to Disneyworld; sure would like to go back to that area some time.

Thanks for the review! We are in a phase of alternating between Disney World one year and Branson the next. I love them both, and the Branson year allows us to recharge financially! Branson is such a great vacation value! Anyway, your stop at Golden Corral brings good memories back to me. We stayed in Destin for 2 nights on the way home from Disney World last year. We ate that first Destin night at Golden Corral. After 6 days of Disney theme park food, we were just in heaven getting some 'normal' food again that tasted great! It was such a nice change that we went back the next night for more!
This is a Branson year for us. Branson is so nice and easy that I planned it out in a few minutes and I know we'll have a blast. I'm already knee-deep in planning Disney-July 2009 though! Glad you had a great vacation! |
