Question about SDC rides for toddlers

My work computer won't allow me to see the ride requirements for toddlers ages 2 and 3, at SDC and my home computer still has dial-up and won't open that section. The part I was able to read is that the children should be able to ride the Tom Sawyer Landing rides? Our trip to SDC Saturday is a day to focus on the kids fun and we want them to have as much of that as possible and I was hoping they could ride something besides the train. Help me out if you can. Thanks!

There are options for toddlers

If your child can sit by themselves they can ride the train and a boat ride that allows them to shoot at objects. There are a couple of rides in the Grand Exposition area that they can ride--Frogs and Ladybugs, I believe. They can ride two of the water rides once they get 34 inches tall, and numerous rides in the Grand Exposition once they get 36 inches tall. They can also ride the roller coaster ride Fire In the Hole, but it might be a little scary if they are under 5.

They will be able to ride some of the rides - but it will depend on how tall they are. Our grands, 1.5 and 3 last year enjoyed several of the rides in the new Explosion area last year.

Here's a quick rundown of some of the rides that might be possibilities for you. Probably more for your 3 year old.....

American Plunge: Recommended for 3+ years. Has height of 50' and up to 35mph. You'll get wet!

Fire in the Hole: Rec'd for 3+yrs. 36" with adult. Is dark at times and there is a little water involved.

Flooded Mine: 8yrs and under with adult. Is dark at times. You get to shoot at targets as you float in a boat.

Train: Under 8 with adult.

Geyser Gulch: Under 5 with adult. Very Wet and has high heights. We've never actually done this, but I think it is more of a play area than a ride.

Grandfather's Mansion: Under 5 with adult. You walk from room to room. Has some slanted floors and a little dark.

Lost River: 36" with adult. Rec for 3+ years. You'll possibly get very wet!

Tom Sawyers Landing

Becky's Carousel: Any rider with adult

Skychase Balloons: Under 5 with adult. Up to 30' in air. Goes around fast. Dh has to ride this with our preschooler. Too fast around for my motion sickness!

Rope Tower: Under 5 with adult. Tall heights.

Grand Exposition

Elephants:
36" with adult. Rec'd for 3+ yrs. Goes up in air if you push button and around in circles

G. Expo Coaster: 36" with adult. Rec'd for 3+ years. Up to 20" heights. I found this ride jerky for an adult, but DD loves it. I rode it with her when she was 3.

Happy Frogs: Under 36" with adult. I think I remembered seeing smaller kids ride this with their parents. They just bounce in a small circle.

Ladybugs: Be able to sit up. No height, just goes in a circle.

Wave Carousel (swings): 36" with adult. Rec'd for 7+years, but our preschooler rode it at 4. It does go very high up, but there are double seats to ride with them. Our DD has no fear of heights.

Galleon (boat swing): 36" with adult. Rec'd for 3+yrs. Tall heights. I do know the smaller children must ride in the first two seats. DD loves this ride.

Racing Regatta: 36" with adult. Rec'd for 3+ years. Boats go very fast around. DH has to ride this with DD. Motion sickness.

Tea Party (tea cups): 36" with adult. Rec'd for 3+ years. Cups spin and you can spin them more if you want. I can ride this so long as DH doesn't go spin crazy.

Wings of Wonder: Under 36" with adult. Goes around and can go up by pushing a button.

Well, I hope that helps you plan. Height is the biggest thing. Most things toddlers can ride so long as they're 36" and you can ride with them.

Have a fun trip with your family....

Thank you all! You have been very informative which allows my wife and I to sit down tonight and kind of plan our stratagy out for tomorrow. As for non-rides, I know about the big play area and the petting zoo but is there anything else that is considered a can't miss for toddlers. You have to understand that I made numerous trips to SDC over the past 36 years but I never focused on the things for toddlers to do, but now I am getting to do that. This season we are not planning on attending enclosed shows on the trips that we take the children(which will be most of the time) but my wife and I will go back a time or two ourselves, just for a break, and we will see some shows at that time.

The water features are the VERY favorite part of SDC for my grands, they'd rather do that than eat ice cream! Be sure to take a complete change of clothes for them, we even take in water shoes, so they don't ruin their sandles/tennis shoes.
