Review: Texas Land & Cattle

Even though their Grand Opening isn't until Monday, April 21'st, they are occasionally letting people go in and eat, so the staff can get some "real" experience. They are going to be closed Sunday the 20'th...just to give everyone a rest, before Grand Opening. After that, they'll be open 7-days a week, 11am to 10pm (11pm on Fridays & Saturdays). It's located at The Landing, right at the fountain (across from Cantina Laredo).

I'd describe this as a Steakhouse, with a "Tex-Mex" flair. There are several "plain steaks" on the menu, but there are also alot of items with "Tex-Mex" flavoring. For example, there is a Chicken Tortilla Soup, that is to die for. It's not "SPICY-HOT", but it does have a mexican kick. The nachos are not spicy-hot, unless you eat the sliced jalapenos on top of them. However, if you order "Fried Jalapenos" as an appetizer, expect them to be hot!

Soup or Salad is included with entrees. You can choose from a Steak Soup, the Chicken Tortilla Soup, a House Salad, a Caesar Salad, a Spicy-Caesar Salad, or an Iceburg Wedge Salad.

There are several Tenderloin Filets on the menu, a Strip Steak, a T-Bone, Ribeyes, and their specialty "Smoked Sirloin". I had the 9-oz Tenderloin Filet, and it was one of the most tender that I've ever eaten. The Smoked Sirloin is "sliced to order"...they slice it according to how you like it cooked. There is also Mesquite Grilled Trout, Salmon Steak, and Grilled Tuna. There are also several chicken items, and a HUGE Chicken Fried Steak. They also have a HUGE "Jalapeno Pork Chop" and BBQ Ribs. You can add a 1/4 pound or 1/2 pound Lobster Tail, or grilled shrimp or fried shrimp, to anything. There's a Steak Sandwich and a Burger and also several "Entree Salads".

For dessert, we had New York style cheesecake, and we chose to have it "Turtle Style". It is a very light cheesecake, and turtle style has chocolate chips, pecans, and carmel syrup. It was absolutely delicious. There is also a "Jack Daniels Pie", a pecan pie, a "Peach Bread Pudding", Peach or Apple Cobbler (all served with ice cream) and there was a "Pecan Ball" which is a big ball of vanilla ice cream, rolled in toasted pecans, and topped with carmel syrup and fudge syrup and whipped cream. And, there was a fudge brownie topped with vanilla ice cream.

As far as service goes, the staff is "new". Service was good, but you have to keep in mind that they aren't even open yet. If anything, I'd say there was "too much service"...too many people asking if they can do something for you. But, they are working on this and it will even-out within a few weeks, I'm sure. They have a policy that they call "the 360 degree turn". Anytime a server leaves a table, he/she does a 360 degree turn and checks all of the tables around him/her, for drink refills, pre-bussing dirty dishes, etc...no matter whose table it is. For now, I'd say "better too much service, than not enough".

As far as pricing, here is a link to the Branson Menu, with prices:

What do you think about this place as a ''meeting place'' for people who might like to entertain customers?

Are there tables where more than 4 or 6 could sit comfortably? Like spaces for 8 to 12...in the round?

Or, how about seating for 4 that is fairly quiet..../like tall backs booths that offer alittle privacy?

I know that some restaurants are so open, the noise is too much for a business dinner..........I'm not looking for a ''picnic table'' atmosphere.

Just curious.

Well, there are tables that can be pulled together, for large groups. There are LOTS of tall-back booths, some for two people, some for four people, and some for six people. There is no "special room" for meetings, though. There is a "balcony seating area", but I believe it's going to be all booths. They do play progressive country music, but it's not so loud that you can't talk above it...their servers don't dance. Let's see...I remember Alan Jackson's "I'm a Work in Progress" and that song about "a BBQ stain on my white T-Shirt"...can't remember the name of it.

I got to talking with to one of the trainers, because she is from Rogers, Arkansas (and DD lives in the Rogers area). She told me that she had served a group from Arvest Bank, the night before. She said they have lots of groups, in Rogers.

One of the trainers was from the new TXLC in Rogers, Arkansas, and she told me that she had served a group from Arvest Bank, the night before. She said they have lots of groups, in Rogers.
Most of the time, when we meet someone for a dinner, its only 4 to 6 of us....but, these good ol boys hate loud and noisey and ........they like STEAKS or TEXAS in the theme. lol...I think its a ''good ol boy'' thing.

But the music sounds great.......O BTW..do they serve alchololololic beverages?

Gotta have beer..........these customers are almost never wine/champaign/mixed drink people. I'm a Freddie Fud Pucker (virgin mode) person...doesnt trip their trigger. at all !

neway...thanks for the info...gives me an alternative to the same ol.

OH YES! You can't have "Texas-Style", without Margaritas and Icy Beer, and you've gotta invite Jose', Jack, and Jim.

Our DS and DIL will be celebrating their anniversary while we're in Branson, and this looks like the perfect place to take them for dinner.
