roadwork to sdc
was just reading a news story that stated SDC and MoDot had entered into a partnership to improve road congestion on hwy76 between SDC and 265.
said the road would be resurfaced, repainted with 2 eastbound lanes and one west bound and overhead signage to direct motorists to the proper lane. if I understood it right they're not widening the road, but retopping it then repainting it so that there will be 4 lanes, left and right turn lanes and thru lanes. work was to be done on Monday's and Tuesday's over the next 3 or 4 weeks. I hope it helps. |

Is this the same road-redirection that has been going on for the last several months, or another project? Is there a link to the article?

When I was in Branson this weekend I noticed stakes on both sides of the HWY 76 between 265 and Indian Point Road; some of the stakes were on the other side of the guard rails.
The Indian Point road project is way behind. The sign that can be read coming FROM Indian Point indicates the road project will be completed in Spring '08. No way, no how! One of our trolley drivers said it was supposed to have all been done by this spring but he had no idea when it would be completed. Traffic and parking will be a challenge this summer.![]() |

radio station web site that's had pretty good updates on the flooding the last week or so, about half way down the page, part of the story is written you can get a bit more by listening in to the recorded portion where it says cut1. sounds like this project will go pretty quickly, just pavement and stripping. it said the ongoing project on Indian Point wouldn't be finished until late July or August |

An utter disaster, not even worthy of free electrons to write about...

When we were at SDC today we noticed how much of the parking lots are gone. What will SDC do for parking this year?

^What parking lots are gone?
Hopefully, they can get the new lots between A and C open before too much of the summer traffic gets here, but if not there's always noch, the employee parking lots, and the many gravel parking lots.

Parking will be in some lots way on down Indian Point road plus 2 other lots (empty property currently for sale) down Highway 76 at Notch which is about halfway to Branson West. They started that last fall. At least they have port-o-potties at the vacant lots.

Parking lot G was taken out in the new Indian Point Road project. Lot F lost some parking, too.

what doesn't make any sense to me is if there was only room for 2 lanes and one turning lane before... how are they getting 2 lanes and 2 turning lanes into the same space? only thing I can think of is they would narrow the shoulders, which could be a bit dangerous in my view.
the bransondaily yesterday said they'd double they're 1000 car an hour average. i'm going to have to see it to believe it, i'm doubtful at the moment. not thrilled to learn the parking lot construction is running behind schedule, was hoping it would be all done by early July when we come. |

Check out this story; to me it says the restriping will configure 3 lanes not 4.
Am I reading it wrong? This is from Hometown Daily News. http://www.eclassifiedsnetwork.com/content.aspx?module=ContentItem&ID=38961&MemberID= 1191 I can't figure out why SDC wants to have 2 major road projects going on at one time?? ![]() Even if the work is going to be done on Mondays and Tuesdays it will still affect the traffic on other days. |

that's the way the story reads but when you click on the audio clip, the voice is saying there will be four lanes, 2 east bound and 2 west bound, ,,, one left hand turning lane and one right hand turning lane and 2 thru lanes.
agree sounds like a mess, hope they at least get some of this done before we go this summer |

roadwork update
Arrived early Tuesday evening and came in on 76. Just before we got to the intersection of 76 and 265 there were signs and a message board about roadwork ahead on 76. As we drove to Branson West to go to WM, we noticed the road had been resurfaced westbound from 265 to Indian Point Road. By Wednesday the road had been striped and new turn markings had been placed on the road. No shoulders now from 265 to IPR. I guess next week's work will progress eastbound from some point on 76 to IPR.
In regards to the IPR, the heavy machinery is still at work. The trolley driver on the way in kept apologizing for the inconvenience. He said that hopefully it will be done in 5 weeks if the weather cooperates (forgive me for being pessimistic about that estimate). Work is also going on in regards to the hole by parking lot C. Fill is supposed to be coming in and eventually the hole will be a parking lot .... no time frame given for that to be done. |
