Bad Experience in Branson ?
Here's a twisted question......
![]() Have you ever had a bad experience in Branson, while on vacation?.?.? No names, please............. One visit in October, it rained for 3 days & kept getting colder each day, & the traffic was so-o-o bad,......we cut our vacation short 1 day..... ![]() &&&&......it seemed to me last year, people are not "driving friendly" like they used to.....????? A lot of people still are driving friendly,........but, I notice a larger number of people that do not. Sometimes, I see a bit of "road rage", right in Branson..... I assume, that these people are jerks the rest of the year, at home, too. I let folks into the line of traffic, ahead of me, before & after shows; at intersections, etc...Sometimes, I've had folks (usually men) that are in line behind me, get real!!! upset when I do that.... So-o-o.....I'll do it again.......![]() |

Not really a bad experience, but, the last 2 times we've been in Branson this year we've seen more police cars on patrol than we ever saw in the past! Makes me wonder if there are more problems, or if they're just trying to be visible, maybe as a deterrent to possible crime

Only problem I have really had was at my hotel in November 2006, the floors were nasty and I asked to be moved to another room...due to the one they gave me spelled like mold....and the owner was not very friendly....told him I had always wanted to stay here and my local Branson travel agent booked me there....he said well we can always have you moved to another hotel.......my choice of hotel, but it did not meet any standards at all....also never felt safe there.....
This hotel is on the strip...and very visible....:but the rest of my trips from 1994 and on have been great......

Three or four years ago we were there for our anniversary and it was the year those tornados came thru and tore up the balloon.
We were at the merchants mall, and it started hailing so bad, that hubby drove over the curb and we put out truck under the roof between buildings,, You should have seen the faces of the other people,,, And later that evening we were staying at the bradford inn, and they said a tornado was headed right for us, so we jumped in the truck and went as fast as we could down to the strip, we got under a roof of a hotel that wasn't open yet for the season, as soon as we got under it , it hailed baseball sized... It was hailing so hard, and this guy from next door at another hotel would drive up under, take off back to his hotel, drive around in circles and get back under again... The power went out all over town, no traffic lights, we were starving, and nothing was open, ( off season) traffic was a mess, The hail damaged the bradford inn's siding, and was still on the ground the next day, it hailed so deep......... I have a picture somewhere.... It was a crazy time..........

A few years back, during a visit, a terrible thunder storm blew through Branson in the middle of the night, knocking out the electricity in part of the strip........
![]() The hotel I was staying at, on the strip, always closed down the lobby @ 11 pm, leaving the customers on their own..... ![]() We all gathered in the "breakfast room" & watched the utility trucks & cops, etc. work to get the lights back on. Got back to my room abt 3 am. The room door locks opened with the computer cards; & when the elec. went off, they quit working.............so, once we left our room.............. ![]() There was a phone outside the lobby door that people could use to call for help.......but, no one answered it when one of the other guests tried to use it......... ![]() I don't stay there, anymore.......... |

Back in 1980 when I was 11 years old we took a family trip. Our car was broken into and my moms purse and my purse were both stolen (yes, we were stupid and left them in the car under the seat). Well both of my parents wedding rings were in there and all our vacation money. Since their wedding rings were stolen I guess I thought that my parents were no longer married. We never wanted to go back to Branson again. Well my husband talked me into going there for our honeymoon back in 1998 and we have been going every year since. I finally got my parents back there two years ago.

I've not had a bad experience.
I've only stayed overnight there two different trips, ...we just run on down for a meal or a show, when we are in Springfield........no plans. One time we ate in a restaurant that isn't there anymore, and the food was greasy...really slick. I'm sitting here, finger poised over keyboard..can't think of anything but good times. I'm sure during one of my overnight trips....I think 4 nights....where I met a Branson buddy and shared a room at the Radisson, and we met up with locals.........and latched onto one local for the entire time......we terroized the entire city, all the shows, and restaurants that sold booze........boy did we have a good time.........but, Ive wondered what the locals and other visitors thought about us. We met a no/west MO buddy and nearly kidnapped the man in a BBQ place.........we called him Baldy...he was cute as he could be. I have never laughed for so many days, and laughed so much, EVER. There nothing like a pajama party overlooking the Moon River Parking lot...and.............well most is better left to the imagination. Oh me...so much fun, so little time.

We came back from an evening Show drenched from sheets of rain and decided not to take the elevator...we walked up two flights of stairs to our room and just made it to our room just as the electricity went off. But we dried off and snuggled in bed to warm up...it was Summer but we were cold. We heard lots of sirens and it was funny to look out the window into darkness because Branson is always lit up! |

On a trip a couple of years ago, my daughter got the stomach flu the day we got there. My mom and I made a 1 a.m. trip to the Walgreen's in Nixa because it was the closest 24 hour pharmacy at that time. The meds didn't work, so we ended up in the ER after a couple of days for dehydration. We went to the ER at 5 a.m. and she felt well enought by that night to go to the Dixie Stampede. Great news huh?..........not so fast. My dad had an allergy attack at the Dixie Stampede that night and his airway was swelling shut. They called an ambulance, and after working to get him stabilized....he ended up in the ER as well. It was only later that we would realize that he almost died in the back of the ambulance in the DS parking lot.
There was no fault on the part of the DS...they have warning signs around about people with allergies. We still really don't know exactly what caused his attack. It was probably either from the horses or the dust, but the funny thing is that my parents have horses and he's the one who usually takes care of them and he's also been to the DS two or three times prior to this and had no problems at all. At any rate, that's about the worst trip we had....but we left very thankful that even though we had some close calls everybody recovered and went home happy. |

nothing really bad, just little things....
there during the car show one year and they party'd all night for 3 straight nights outside our motel keeping us up all night. incredibly bad bad BAD service at Shorty Smalls one time it thundered once I think in Chicago and SDC decided to cancel their evening show, I can understand wanting a night off, but they waited till everyone bought things from the concession stand and got seated before they announced the cancellation. coming home onetime we dodged tornado's from Joplin to Tulsa... it was at Thanksgiving believe it or not |

Well...if its okay to have a bad time on the way home...I had one of those.
We hit a deer on Hwy 63 near Houston. Laid its head on the windshield (passenger side), rolled over the glass and hood and flew off the other side...NOT ONE DENT IN CAR.......deer ran off. I was not feeling good tho....fear is an awful thing.

they said it was weather, in truth it wasn't Chicago but south of the Ark line... Springdale? Harrison? someplace down there and it was moving south away from SDC, wasn't anywhere close but it was an excuse to close up I guess. made sure they sold their popcorn, pretzels and such before they canceled.
