White River Fish House...

Figured it was about time to check this so called fish house out, so last Friday me, DW and DD headed down for a late lunch.
Upon entering it was immediately clear that this fish house was a cut above other fish houses we have patronized. No slippery fish parts on the floor, smelled great, and as far as I know they were not selling bait out of the kitchen. In fact, the decor of The Fish House is something to behold. If it has to do with fishing or boating, it is probably on display, but not cluttered--tasteful. You know, tasteful. This probably is the nicest job of decorating in Branson. Two thumbs up for the decorator. There are some great tables next to the windows that provide a fine view of the lake, and if you are on the north side, The Landing fountains. I recommend you go for these seats. At the front of the building there is what appears to be a neat private dining area--capacity about twelve I'd guess.
Our server was Tiffany who proved to be efficient, knowledgeable, friendly and as an added bonus drew a "smiley on our receipt." Something else that stood out was that all of the servers and other employees were busy cleaning, shining, and straightening in general. Although I couldn't hear the whip cracking, I got the feeling this was a motivated crew.
DW and DD ordered and shared the coconut shrimp and the trout entrees, while I went for the fish and chips not sharing with anyone. Each entree comes with your choice of sides, and while you wait, a slab of corn bread gets your taste buds ready for the feast.
My fish and chips were great--Hands down the best fish I have had in Branson.
DW eats a lot of coconut shrimp and she thought they were quite good, but perhaps second to Joes I sampled the shrimp and found them to be very good and the largest shrimp I have seen in some time---and you couldn't even taste the steroids OK, that's a joke--they were big, but of course not on steroids I don't get very excited about coconut shrimp as I feel the two just were not meant to be together--If shrimp were meant to be coconut they would be grown on trees. Besides, being dipped in coconut juice has got to be annoying to the shrimp.
DD's trout got high praise as well. I should point out that the servings were more than generous.
Our check for three entrees and one drink came to $44.XX. Of course that "smiley" on the check was worth an extra 2% on the tip
I have an idea The White River Fish House is going to be a regular stop for us and I'm happy to recommend it to you also

Well SpottedDogDad, that was the best review I've read in a coons age.
And, you could go into the business of promotions, I'm certain.

But since I believe everything you say, hands down..........I cannot wait to try this establishment, asap.

Thanks for the review and the entertainment

PS I'll tell the Truckinfarmer they have ''cute'' waitress' there.

We have eaten there twice but haven't had the fish. Our next trip, fish it will be! Thanks for the review.

Our waiter told us, the last time, that everyone pitches in and helps others and the customers.

There are a few new restaurants here in Branson, that are doing that. I think it's a great idea. If you're getting a drink refill for your table, and someone else's table next to you needs a refill...you get their's, too. If you go to the kitchen and your food isn't ready, but someone else's is...you run their food. Then the server next to you will do the same. It improves customer service. TEAMWORK...what a concept.

It is a VERY good concept; good customer service brings the customer back over and over again and he/she recommends the restaurant to others. Word of mouth is free advertising! It really angers me to be in a restaurant and waiters are everywhere, but not ours, and we are ignored. Poor concept!

Thanks for letting us know. I love fish, but not the "fishy" taste, if you know what I mean? I like the white fish like tilapia, and also like shrimp. Thanks again!

I totally agree with your review. We tried it a few months ago and it was great.

What made it even better was the free cobbler coupon we had. The coupon was in a Branson Landing coupon book. The cobbler comes out in a cast iron skillet and feeds two people easily.

This is such a good idea, public relations wise. We were at a restaurant Thursday when we were in Branson, and we had to wait quite a long while to be waited on. This was unfortunate because there were SEVERAL waiters just standing around looking bored. I think the management would have been happier to have us waited on quickly instead of seeing bored, doing nothing waiters standing around. It won't affect our going back to that particular restaurant because it is one of our favorites, but it didn't make us very happy.
