March 24-April 1 Trip

Grand Buffet - Good food, though way too much of it.

Red Lobster - My husband's annual treat. We also had gift cards we'd gotten through check card points at our bank. It was good, though I've had coconut shrimp at Joes Crab Shack that I liked as well or better.

Cracker Barrel - Yum, Yum. Hadn't planned to eat here and it was excellent. I had a broccoli chicken daily special and my husband had chicken fried steak.

Mel's Hard Luck Diner - First time and the food and entertainment was very good. We'll be back for sure. We shared a tenderloin so there was room for a shake.

Luigi's- As usual, excellent. No pizza like this at home so it's a must stop when we're in town.

Denny's - Ate there primarily to get a later morning breakfast, though we've never been disappointed with the food we've gotten there and we've eaten other meals.

Olive Garden - another bank card treat - Huge crowd there to eat, but we were seated in a relatively short time and got our food quickly. It was good too.

IHOP - Another late morning breakfast, and they too were swamped. I had the stuffed french toast - Very good

Jack's Plaza View - Philly Steak and Prime Rib sandwiches. Both excellent and the atmosphere is great with the view and Kenny Parrotsinging.

Sunday Brunch - Haven't done this yet, but we're eating at the Keeter Center today. Hope it's as good as I expect.

How is this different than here at home?

Good review. I'm anxious to hear what you think of the Keeter Center, we've never eaten there and hope to on our next trip.

Final Installment - I forgot to include a breakfast we had at a small mom & pop type restaurant on 165 beyond the dam. It may be called the Table Rock Inn. It's beside a local company that sells granite for countertops, and is located on the left side of the road if you're heading south and east (directions are hard for me down there). Don't expect anything fancy inside, but the breakfasts we had were great. I had an omelet that I'd order again.

We also ate our Keeter Center brunch and while it was good, it wasn't nearly worth the money. We stuck to the breakfast menu, though a complete dinner and dessert menu was also available. It essentially cost us $50 for breakfast. We decided that was more than we'd typically spend on a day's meals, so we probably won't return. As I said, the food was good, but not worth $50 for breakfast. We've eaten an evening meal there before too and it was good, but I wouldn't order the same thing again. Can't remember what that was though. I'd likely try a lunch meal if I wanted to go again, but it takes a big chunk of your vacation dining money to eat there.

Ate once more at the Grand Buffet and it was as good as the first time. Had lunch with a half-off for the second meal coupon which let the two of us eat for what one cost at the Keeter Center.

Moon River Grill - Ate an evening meal there on Monday and it was very good. I had Chicken Quesadilla and my husband had spaghetti. Price wasn't too high and food was good. I did notice though that the spaghetti meal did not include a salad.

Deno's Fried Pies - I thought I'd screwed up on this one when we stopped by on Monday to discover they were closed. Had to stop on my way out of town on Tuesday to get refreshments for my card club. I was trying to decide what to buy when I noticed that a dozen pies was much cheaper. I'm willing to sacrifice anything to save money, so I bought a dozen, and by saving $1 per pie I actually got 3 or 4 free. What a deal. Two blackberries were fresh out of the fryer so I was enticed by the aroma all the way home. Can't wait to see what my guests think. We'll be dining on blackberry, peach and apricot.

Sorry the Keeter Center was so expensive. I have wondered about going there myself, but we don't spend $50 on meals generally unless it's a planned treat!

Everything else sounded wonderful.
