Which Timeshare Presentations are worth it?

I found one on eBay for $30 for 3 nights at Settle Inn. After the reviews on tripadvisor of Settle Inn I decided against that one. I know there are a plethora of them in Branson.
Here's the deal. My husband is really bad at saying "No". I have fun with it to a point, then my ADD kicks in and I want to leave. If we go on one of these timeshare tours it will be for the freebies and I'll be the one doing all the talking. Which tours are worth my time? How do we get the most out of them? How do we leave without feeling like the scum between their toes? Is it easier just to get a room and pay the $40/night? We're going after Labor day so rates should be lowered by then. Give me your advice.

NONE of them are worth it...especially if you don't want to be treated like trash once you say no.

I would say that paying the $40.00 a night for a room is so much nicer, and your trip can be relaxing, and you can do what you want when you want, without having to spend half a day getting your freebies. There are coupon books everywhere...so you can still find plenty of things to do at a reasonable price, and you don't have to deal with the timeshare hassel.

Just my opinion....

avoid avoid avoid these stupid time share things!

you're MUCH better off to just look around and find a deal on a motel yourself.

I agree with PattiCake....stay as far away from time share salespeople as you can, if you want a nice, relaxing vacation.

You'll have a much nicer time in Branson if you "do your own thing" when it comes to booking lodging & entertainment.

Lodging is very cheap! all over Branson, for what you get, compared to other touristy places. There are coupon booklets (free) all over town in magazine racks. Some theaters offer discounts if you belong to AAA, AARP, are a vet, etc. 2 for1 ticket outlet on the E end of the strip is a very good place to buy tickets for some of the shows. Be sure to stop there! No time share hassles from those folks!

Agree Agree Agree....Avoid them no matter what. NONE of them are good, have anything to offer but 'grief'.

Been there, done that, and would never do it again.

As suggested, just get a nice room, plenty available at very reasonable rates and have a nice vacation instead of stressing yourself and DH out.

I doubt you'll find anyone on here that will give you any recommendations on any kind of TimeShare presentation.

If it sounds too good to be true, it's always too good to be true.

I've been called ''horrid'' in this very forum, for feeling good about saying ''no'', and, getting something for ''nothing'', so I cannot elaborate.

Just don't take the route of ''earning'' your vacation in Branson at the hands of Time Shares. No vacation is worth that.

There are plenty of people here, in this board, who are experts on a vacation on a budget in Branson............let them help you. They are always willing to share those great tips.

Timeshares are not for everyone, but there are people who really enjoy them. Taking a tour is also a great way to get free or very cheap show tickets.
I work for a beautiful resort!! (I am not just saying that..it is unlike no other) If you are interested in taking a tour, let me know and I will be glad to set you up with a tour.

I hav some good friends in the business, I do not and will not own one, but there are many very happy owners. HOWEVER, there are many unhappy owners. My experience with the unhappy customers that call me to complain because they have sales centers in the shopping centers we operate, is they were like you, Just going for the freebees, and they either got caught up in the major sales pitch, or unfortunately got what we call "pitched Heat" which is a fancy way of saying they got lied to and strong armed, and they bought. Many of these are absolute experts at twisting and turning and getting you to buy. Now, I want to repeat, there are many very honest and nice people in the bisiness. But if either of you have a problem saying no, STAY AWAY.

I am an old professional sales trainer, and I never go to one of these, because if they ask me for the order the right way, I know I will buy, even though I don't want it. In fact I am so programed from years ago, that I might even start helping them with the pitch.

Skip the tours and pay your own way... If you think you might want a timeshare buy one from a reseller...Opps, did I say buy? You can find time shares that people will give you for free.
Either way, do the math, all the math...It doesn't work..
And if that doesn't convince you, check out The Taney County Times and look at all the timeshare foreclosures.

Do not do them.
Agreed that there are plenty of reasonable lodging places to stay.
Shows are there to be seen and are reasonable also.

do not waste your 3 hours!!!

Actually, timeshares are a source of discount vacations. I google them frequently, something like Branson Timeshares For Rent or Orlando Timeshares For Rent, and find owners who are renting their time very reasonably, lower than traditional lodging.

Yes, one of the several shortcomings of the TS industry is that they ignore their owners, the people who put their money into the system, when it comes time for them to sell. It is then that folks find out the true value, the value in the marketplace, minus the hype and fluff.

So, even with things that some people are adamantly opposed to, there are benefits to be derived.

To answer the OP, I don't know about the premiums, but if you want get a good variety, or get a sample of a better resort, not that any of them are not nice, try something on the lake, especially Big Cedar Wilderness Club (one of the best TS resorts in the world), something with nice golf and an upscale environment, say StoneBridge, and something in town, near the strip, say Marriott Horizons, to get a different taste.

Branson has some very nice resorts and very few dogs.

[quote=Crazy4Branson;317775]Bottom line is...........you can stay @ any of these "resorts" without having to listen to /buy a timeshare.
You can pick up the phone/computer & plan your own vacation....MUCH! cheaper in the long run......You don't have to spend $$$$$$ to "buy" a time share that you can use once! a year, when it's not booked; & then pay "taxes" on your time-share, & pay more money to stay in your time share property for your week's vacation.

Just do the math....$10,000 for a B(lue) S(ky) time share.
"Taxes" every year $200-500 +
$100+++++ just to "book" you week's vacation

~~There is a lot of other benefits of owning. You can get cheap airline tickets, you can travel anywhere in the world with an exchange, you can take a cruise for minimal dollars, and there are numerous other discounts that one can receive.
I, like you Crazy4Branson can't see spending that kind of money, but then again I live on a super tight budget while raising two kids. But, working in the timeshare industry, I work with people who make TON of money (not me). Putting down $20,900 timeshare is pocket change to them. I guess it is all about what you can afford in life and what you can't. Unfortunatly, I can't. Some people have the cash flow to buy things that someone else might deem as unnecessary. Some people actually come to us wanting to tour and buy. It happens more often than you think.

One thing I have learned, or tried to learn, during my ten years on Internet forums, is that everyone is an individual, has different likes and dislikes, and should be treated with respect. Well, at least until they unearn the last item.

Just because they don't do or like the things I do or like does not mean they are wrong, or right, or I am wrong, or right.

Several years and about 25000 posts ago I entitled a thread on a forum, What is Wrong With These People? What it was about is why people don't use Priceline or Hotwire when they travel, that they just drive until they're done and then stop at some overpriced fleabag. (What we did before Priceline and Hotwire.)

Of course, the implications of my thread were obvious, that those people were stupid and I was superior, staying in nicer places for less money, for very little effort. (I have Pricelined or Hotwired several hundred nights [days?] of lodging.)

What I learned was that there was nothing wrong with those people. They just do what I do differently. And what business was it of mine what other people do with their money or how they lived their life, as long as they weren't imposing it on me? After all, it was me intruding on their way of doing things, imposing my opinions on them, uninvited.

Other things I have learned, or tried to learn, is to not fight a losing fight, with the wrong audience, and to not give advice where advice is not wanted.

Not necessarily related to anyone in this thread, but a couple weeks ago I was talking on the phone with a NEW YORK CITY Wall Street type business person I met on a forum. We were talking about arguments in general. He said when two reasonable, open-minded, intelligent people argue, they sound like two, reasonable, open-minded people, but when a reasonable, open-minded person argues with an idiot, they sound like 2 idiots.

So, did you happen to read the last line of the OP's post?
