July Family Vacation
Our trip to the Grand canyon has fallen through,so we are going to come to Branson
, but I need some help with lodging. I would like to have narrowed down 3 places then let the family choose, my problem we have only been to Branson once before and we stayed at deer run motel and only went to SDC-so we never really ventured out and explored etc...OK so what I am looking for is: $100 or less a night with a hot breakfast included, roomy enough for 5(2 adults & 3 kids ages 14,13,10) so either 2 true queen beds and room for a blow-up mattress OR sofa-bed in the room-like a family suite, pool, maybe an arcade-something the kids would find fun and exciting(if that makes sense?) as far as location-it doesn't matter as long as one of the alternate routes(I think that is what they are called?) can be easily accessed...we will plan to visit SDC and CC. We will be there July 21-24. We do spend a fair amount of time in the room-a typical vacation day for us would be as follows, wake, eat breakfast head to an amusement park, leave around 3ish, back to room so kids can swim, out to dinner then back to the room so the kids can swim some more. I did some reading on the 3 properties of Bransons Best that offer breakfast, cobbler and ice cream each evening and am interetested in which of those 3 properties you like best and why? I would like to have one of those be on my list of 3 but I don't know where they are located and what they may be close too-like being able to walk to something vs driving etc...so any help there is greatly appreciated Also any other motel/hotel that you feel has most of what we are looking for,if you could let me know what it's near so I can try and get my barrings-I have sent off for a visitors guide. Lastly since we havent had to deal with traffic going into SDC before how early would you say we should leave the lodging establishment by to avoid the least amt of traffic? When we stayed at deer run we took the shuttle-so this will be a whole new ballgame... Much thanks in advance for your replies... |

I can think of 3 places that would fill what you just described.
Hampton Inn West -- indoor pool, breakfast, large enough rooms for a roll away and I believe they also have suites available. price would probably be in the 90.00 range. location is on the west end of 76 close to the last stop light that goes onto shepherd of the hills road. it's above what used to be the Remmington Theater, behind it is a side road that will give you access to the Shepherd Hlls expressway. we have reservations around Thanksgiving Comfort inn 1000 hills -- indoor pool, breakfast, close to 76 but on the side roads, below (north) of the Grand Palace easy acces coming and going. I didn't think the rooms were as big as some places in Branson, can't remember if they had suites or not. on the plus side there's shopping, eating and mini golf within easy walking distance. price probably in the mid 80's to low 90's Comfort Inn and Suites on Gretna--- located just north of one of the Factory Outlet Malls, close to the Mansion Theater and the new Sight and Sound theater very easy to get to, little further from 76. Breakfast, indoor pool, large rooms, not much around it to walk to though. we're thinking of staying here in the summer, probably around the 4th of July. I think we were quoted a price in the mid 80.00's. as far as drive time to SDC? last few times we've went has been on a holiday, i'd say we allowed from a little over an hour to an hour and 45 minutes. i'd assume non-holiday weekends would be a bit less... hopefully. |

All three are good hotels,
Whispering hills pool is out in the open, next to the street and is on the smallish side... I can't say as to the rest of them as far as their pools... Have you thought of trying a resort like hunters friend??? They have lodging from a motel to Kitchenettes to beautiful condo's.. They have bikes the kids could ride, grills, karaoke on saturdays in the pavillion, as well as a pool...... They are near silver dollar city and are near the lake... The strip only takes minutes to get to... www.huntersfriendresort.com The owners are regulars on this web site and are great people that will do everything to make sure you are happy...... It might give the kids more room to roam... And they have a game room.............

We stayed at Comfort Inn and Suites on Gretna last summer and had a double queen suite. It had two queen beds, a little half partition and a sofa (didn't check to see if it was a sofa bed) and a microwave and mini-fridge. Free breakfast and indoor pool, small arcade room, and a room with washer and dryer in it. I don't know what the rate for that type of room is this year, but SDC pass holders get a % off, and also at www.bransonsavings.com there is a coupon for 15% off, so it might be worth checking into. We really like Branson's Best but the rooms may be a little crowded for 5 people. I also remember reading that Green Mountain Inn has a family suite, so maybe you could do a search for that.

We love Branson Best, and we have stayed at Whispering Hills a couple of times. They are the cleanest places, and very friendly. Breakfast and cobbler at nights is included in the price. When you add what you would spend to eat out for Breakfast, and we always have to have a snack in evening, it turns out to be a very good deal. The breakfast are really good too!

Just curious, I've stayed there many times in the 3 bed rooms. There was never a fridge or microwave in the rooms. When did you stay there? We stayed there last November Thanksgiving weekend.

You might want to check out your "link". It opens to a page called "misouri vacatin" (that's the way it was spelled on the page); instead of opening to 12 Oaks Inn. |

Thanks
Thank you for the replies-we did think about the condo aspect too but again really want to be kinda in the heart of it all-which is why I am looking motel/hotel lodging with some breakfast included-the savings on that(breakfast) alone means an extra activity for the family...
Thanks again |

Super 8 Might be a way to go
You might try the Andy Williams Super 8 on Green Mountain Drive. Queens will run in the 60-70 range, they have a "Super Start Breakfast" which includes Biscuits and Gravy, Cereal, Doughnuts, Bagels, English Muffins, Tropical Fruit as well as Apple and Orange Juice for Breakfast. Also includes Hot fresh baked cookies in the evening instead of Cobbler. They are located behind the Andy Williams Theater right off the strip. Being on Green Mountain, you can avoid the strip all the way to Celebration City and jog over to 76 on 376 to hit Silver Dollar City. You have Mini Golf close as well as one of the Branson Track centers just up the hill. There would be room for a twin Air Bed in the Queens. There is also a Refrig in the Queen Rooms. You can book online at www.super8.com or you can call them direct at 417-334-8880. There are pics online at the super 8 site of the motel etc.
Staff is really friendly and will go out of their way to make your stay very pleasant. |

There are so many great places to stay in Branson. If you're looking for a motel in the middle of things, there's a ton of them. Read through the previous threads here in the Lodging forum for some good ideas. We learned 'years ago' that there's really no such thing as a 'free breakfast' though. (no matter where you travel) You pay for it in the price of the room. We can find great lodging and go to our own choice of great restaurants for breakfast, for the same price or usually less. Just something to concider when making your choice.
