Pictures of Gage Marina (at The Landing)

Some people have been asking about the new "Gage Marina" that's under construction at The Landing. I took these pictures on my phone. I was trying to get pictures of how muddy the water was, after the big rains...but, that part didn't turn out so well. But, the pictures of the buildings turned out, so I'll post them.

I took these pictures, while standing on the deck of Joe's Crab Shack. This is located ON THE WATER, directly in front of Joe's ...the entire structure is floating. That is water in front of the buildings...if it looks like dirt, that's because it was full of funky stuff, after the rains...it's clear water, now.

If you sit at one of the window tables in Joe's, you look directly at Shorty Small's...the Harley Davidson building is directly in front of the steps going down to the lake. There are several boat slips to the left of Shorty Small's. I believe these are going to be for public use...park your boat and go shopping/dining...but don't quote me on that.

It was fascinating to watch the initial construction of these buildings. They brought in HUNDREDS of 50-gallon drums, and filled them with water, and set them all around the floating platform. They said these drums were used as "counterweights", so they could level the platform, before they started construction of the buildings.

This first picture is of "Shorty Smalls Restaurant". To the left of the building, you'll see the roof of what I think is going to be a covered patio. Behind the "covered patio" is a small boat that is going to be "Shorty Small's Pub".

This picture is of the building that is going to be "Denny's Harley Davidson Accessories". It is going to be the bottom half of the building. I believe the top half is going to be banquet facilities. I believe that they are also going to have the offices for the two Landing Cruises, in this building.

We lovingly refer to it as "the floating monstrosity".
You're not suggesting that we un-buckle their seatbelt, are you?

I wouldn't want to do that
Maybe just make it about a mile longer.

Maybe a "bungee seatbelt"...
But honestly, why didn't they put it down at the Belk's end of the parking lot? There are no businesses with windows, down there.
They just ruined Joe's view. Who wants to sit in Joe's Crab Shack and look at the beautiful view...of Shorty Small's?

Will this "development" have an effect on Joe's business???????? I am surprised that there aren't some building restrictions, or guidelines to prevent things like this taking place....jmo....

Oh, I doubt it will have much of an effect on Joe's business...they're so busy, I don't think it will hurt (in the long run). However, I heard from a very reliable source, that Joe's "protested it", at first. Construction stopped right after that...for a few weeks, and then it was construction as usual. So,
I guess Joe's lost out.

However, I'd estimate that Joe's misses-out on at least 1/4 of the business they would have had, due to the fact that people don't want to wait an hour to get in...I wouldn't wait an hour. I'm sure Shorty Smalls will have a waiting list, too...so, people will now have a choice of waiting for Joe's or Shorty Smalls.

But, what I don't understand is how they got permission from the Corps of Engineers, to build this thing on the water. We all know how strict the guidelines are, as far as the Marina at Big Cedar. They aren't even allowed to sell fuel or a bag of ice, unless they are current guests of Big Cedar.
If someone runs out of gas in front of their marina, they will give them enough gas to make it somewhere else, but they can't sell it. Maybe the
Gage's know something that Johnny Morris doesn't know.

What about the two cruise boats? Are they running yet? We took the Princess (I think that was the name of it) last November, and it was a very enjoyable trip to Rockaway Beach and back.

imo....all of this development is taking away all of the former serenity that was part of the Lake Taneycomo "atmosphere".....

I wonder what changes came about to those living near the river after/as Powersite dam was built? Maybe those folks shook their heads in question as times were a'changin' then.......

Oh, I know......I'm getting old....time marches on.....but, do we have to destroy so much of what was naturally beautiful, in the name of "progress" ?

Some more pictures, that I found. The first picture was also taken from the deck of Joe's, with the camera pointed to the right of the "Harley Davidson Store"...toward Bar Louie's deck. You can tell more about the location of the marina, by looking at this picture. I think this was taken before construction began.

The second one is an artist's rendition of the finished building...the same one that's in the second picture, that I posted above. I guess the second drawing is of another building, planned for the future...Shorty Smalls is drawn on the right of it...

Mellie, I'd MUCH rather sit in Joe's Crab Shack and look at Shorty Smalls, than vice versa.... for if I'm sitting at Joe's, I'll be getting the best service in Branson (for now) and some fantastic crab dip (dh has tried duplicating it at home, he comes close, but it's just better at Joe's).

Thanks for the compliment, but you'd better hurry! I wish I could take the crab dip recipe with me...I love it too!
P.S. Does he brown lots of fresh parmesan cheese on top of it?
