Mini golf?

Our 5yr old dd is asking to play mini golf while we're in Branson this next trip. Which ones do you guys like better? I know there are several in Branson. I was looking at Pirate's Cove because that's one I remember someone else saying, but what about some others? I know there's one with a big yellow plane out front and one with dinosaurs. And there's the indoor course at Grand Country. We've never played mini golf while in Branson, so I'm open to all suggestions! Thanks.........

There are always coupons in the Best Read guide for the Grand Country indoor mini golf - buy one get one half price. DH and I have played that one before as well as Pirate's Cove. The last 2 years we've played mini golf at Celebration City but the course is usually crowded.

We played this visit at the Pirate's Cove. It was fun. If you are SDC season pass holder's, you get a discount.

Our favorite was Pirates Cove but we also really liked Treasure Island(one with the yellow plane). The dinosaur golf was just ok to us and the grand country was a little boring...but nice if its raining!!

Pirates Cove is our favorite! We always go there at least once, usually more, on every trip.
We have played others, but we always go back to Pirates Cove.
DH and I are a little competitive with each other, and Pirates Cove is a challenging course. (We even bring our own putters )

However, I really think a five year old would like the one with the yellow plane.
They have a little "mining train" that takes you to the starting point.
I think kids would like that.

Thanks Christi, I didn't know the name of the one with the yellow plane. I'll look up their website (if they have one).

That is too funny. You bring your own putters to mini golf!

Our family is majorly into minig olf. In fact, Thursday when SDC traffic was so bad and we'd already been in in traffic for over 3 hours and were FINALLY getting a parking spot, our 5 years old was like "Can't we just turn around and go play mini golf instead?" LOL We told her that after all that time we would at least check out SDC for a bit to see about the crowding inside and then if we decided to leave, mini golf was definitely an option. We stayed at SDC for several hours, but did end up going mini golfing before the night was over.

I still have not played the Treasure Island one, but here's my think so's on all the rest we've done.

Pirate's Cove- My number one choice again. For a while we wouldn't go there because their greens had gotten really rough and the cups stuck above the carpeting, so it made it literally impossible to make some of the shots. However, they have redone their greens on both courses, totally revamped a couple of holes (at least on the Captains, which is the easy course), and even have added goodie bags for the kids at the end, which made their entire game totally worth it! Small children who play with the plastic club rather than a real one play for free, but still get a goodie bag at the end. My kids were so thrilled with their prizes that they even wore their pirate hats and eye patched to Wal-Mart after that! LOL (Hint-- VIP has a B1G1Free before 6pm coupon or you can also get $1 or $2 off coupons in those freebie coupon flyers you find around town, which makes this place even more worth it) LOVE this one.

Dinosaur Canyon- Pretty decent course for families. They also offer the little plastic putters for small ones, so that's nice. However, if you have a kid that's afraid of loud noises etc, you might want to skip this one, because some of the dinosaurs are animatronic things and actually move and/or make noise, which scared our youngest one half to death last time. She is overly afraid of things like that though, so most kids would probably handle it just fine. Just a heads up, in case. I think we found a fairly decent coupon in one of the freebie coupon sheets last time we played, but no discounts in the VIP book.

Animal Golf at the Tracks (Track 3 I think?)- Unless they have changed their course or improved their greens recently, don't waste your time on this one. Might be ok if you already are going to the Track and have a GoCard loaded with Track credits and just don't want to spend any extra money anywhere else, but I wouldn't go here specifically to play golf. We tried it a couple different times and just weren't impressed.

Grand Country mini golf- Has two courses, both of which are very boring for adults who've done mini golfing before, but ok if you are just looking for an indoor activity to do with the kids while its raining or something. They also stay open till 11 through the week or midnight on t \he weekends, so that's nice for late nighters. Beware the rude lady that was running it while we were there this last week. I will post more on that in my review later, but if I ever saw her again, I'd walk out before I played. On the plus side- VIP does offer a B1G1Free coupon that makes it worth not being such a "Grand" course.

Also- I have no opinion on it, as we just saw it on our way out of town on Friday, but there is a new mini golf place (forgot the name already though) going south on SOH Expressway from 76 just before you get to Roark Valley road on your right. I would love to know if anyone has played this and what they thought for our next trip

Anyway-- sorry so long winded, but hope this helps. This is one of our favorite pastimes when in Branson and we play as often as we have the weather/time/money to do so on each trip.

I have not been there yet, but see signs on hwy 165, over by the Welk Theater, for glow in the dark golf, and I think bowling. A new place, sounds fun. Has anyone been there yet?
And, I might add, we are located right in between Dinosaur Canyon, and Pirates Cove. And maybe the new water park will be open by then right down the street from us!

Wow! Thanks JoElla for the detailed mini golf report. If we end up having time, it will be between Pirate's Cove and Treasure Island. Not sure which one DD will like better--riding a tram/train or playing golf with a pirate ship.
