This will be my first time in Branson and I'm looking forward to my visit. Does anyone have suggestions for shows to see. My time is limited to just a few days.
Thank you, Nicoleann ![]() |

I would recommend the Baldknobbers and the Presleys. Also Ride the Ducks.

welcome to the board... for a first timer my advice would be to stay away from the newer shows and go with something more established.
my choice for a newbie would be; Mickey Gilley Baldknobbers Presley's Yakov Dixie Stampede some of the newer one's might be great shows, but for someone going your first time, you want it to be a positive experience and you can't go wrong with the older shows. at least in my opinion |

Well, different strokes for different folks is a very true cliche. It really depends on your age and your musical taste. Also, if you have kids that factors into the equation. I must admit that I couldn't disagree with OkieAnon more. I think the newer shows in town are FAR more impressive that the old ones. Then again, I don't really like hillbilly humor or some comedian coming on stage with a toilet seat for a banjo etc... If you think you like that sort of thing them those shows would be the ones to see. But, the most impressive shows in town are the newer ones like SIX, Liverpool Legends (Beatles), 12 Irish Tenors, Spirit of the Dance or Chinese Acrobats. Kirby Van Burch has a pretty good magic show. Broadway is impressive if you like singing and dancing. Good choices for a country/Gospel show are Grand Country or Branson Brothers. I guess my recommendation would be to see a little of the old and new. But most importantly, HAVE FUN!

SIX, 12 Irish Tenors, Clay Cooper, for sure. Mickey Gilley is great, too.

It all depends on what you all like. My personal favorites are: SIX, Broadway, Spirit of the Dance, The Duttons, Branson Brothers and Tony Roi. Haygoods also put on a good show. Hamner Barber is a great variety show with magic, music and comedy. For your first time here you might want to see one of the original shows. For that, I'd suggest Presley's.

I realize it's always fun to make fun of country music and country music fans but there's a lot of us out there, and we enjoy the music. the country shows in Branson are much more than a toilet seat for a banjo, if you like country there is some really good country music in Branson. However that really wasn't the point of the post I made earlier that you disagree with. Personally I don't consider the Acrobats, Six, Liverpool Legends, Kirby to be new shows. They are well established shows, the only one that i've seen is Kirby I simply recommended the one's that I have seen. When I mentioned new it was in reference to the large number of posts about shows opening in the last couple of weeks, those I consider new and until I see reviews by posters with more than 1 or two posts it's really hard to say to someone new to Branson making their first impression of Branson to take a gamble on something unknown. Go with a Kirby, a Six, a Presley's, Mickey Gilley or Andy Williams to begin with at least.... my opinion |

Also consider seeing the outdoor play @ The Shepherd of the Hills complex.....That's! where "it all really started!!" There are so many choices.....perhaps if you post your appr. age & music preferences, we could narrow down your list of options...I know you'l have fun, no matter what you do in Branson! I highly recommend the Presley's, The Doug Gabriel Morning Show (At Jim Staffords) & The Branson Brothers. Truthfully, there are alot of great shows in Branson. You will love it there. Go to the Branson Landing too. That's really neat. Enjoy your trip.

There's your answer, Nicoleann! See every show in Branson! There are as many opinions as there are fiercely loyal Branson lovers! My personal picks for a first timer would be Grand Jubilee, Branson Brothers, Duttons, and The Platters!

Where to start.
Depends on when your coming in and what kind of music you like. The only show that most of the others didn't cover that I feel will be the must see show of this year is the new Sight and Sound Theater that is opening up on May 24th. It is a Bible based musical show, this years preformance is the story of NOAH. With over 100 live animals and 200 + computer generated it will be something to see and I for one can't wait to go, have already got tickets for opening night. You will actually be sitting inside the ark as they build it around you.
Also mentioned was Shepherd of the Hills, I believe this is also a must see. For good all around entertainment, you can't beat either the Presleys or the Baldknobbers. If you like a lot of Comedy the Jim Stafford is great too. If your older then Andy Williams along with the Entertainers will be a really good show this year too. But one of the lesser known shows that has already been mentioned is Kirby. If you go, spend the extra $20 per person and get a backstage pass. You don't realize how big his white tigers are until you see them upclose. Wow are they tall. If your into the 50, 60's and 70's music then people tell me the Rankin Brothers (See other posts on this site) is a great show too. A lot to do in Branson, as someone mentioned earlier, just move down here and see a new show nightly. Have fun on your trip to Branson, we love having new people visit. |
