travel question
We are headed to branson next weekend and coming from N.E. Oklahoma. Last year my boy and I floated the buffalo river in N.W. Arkansas and they were doing road construction on highway 412 between Springdale and Alpena. It looked like they were making it 4 lanes although we exited 412 10 miles or so before Alpena. My questions are (I'm hoping someone will know);
Is this what they were doing? Does it go all the way to Hwy 65? Is it done yet? Thanx in advance for any info you can provide. |

It's 2 lanes in places, 4 lanes in others. It's still an ongoing project although on our last trip the end of Dec. we were not delayed due to construction. It appears that it will take some time yet to finish.

I wondered about this myself, since we too are coming from NE Oklahoma nd the last time we went to Branson via 412 we ended up stuck in traffic for quite some time. I hoped it had been long enough now that it wouldn't be too terribly bad, but am glad for an update either way.

thanx again for the info.
so was i correct in thinking it will eventually be 4 lanes all the way to 65? i assume your answer means that some of the sections of the new highway are open. Do you have any guess as to how much of the highway between springdale and alpena has 4 lanes open? 1/4? 1/2? 3/4? etc. again, thanks for the info. |

Most of the stretch between Eureka Springs and Alpena is still 2 lanes. I'll be driving it tomorrow and Tuesday and will give you an update on Tuesday night.
