OMG! Killington, Vermont

DH wants to go to Killington, Vermont, for our Ski Vacation, next winter. OMG...Look at the "Snowed Inn"...this is the first place I looked at. If we go to this town, I may never come back. http://www.killington.com/winter/pla...inns/snowedinn

A little bird just told me that they've had 120+ inches of snow, this year.

Was it by chance a 'SNOW BIRD' heading south??

Vermont is one place we can't wait to travel around. Do you and DH snow ski Mellie??

The little bird didn't fly...he took the bus!

No, we don't ski...and we don't plan to!
We want to snow-mobile, "mush" (dog sledding), and sit in the outdoor hot tub, and dine by the fireplace!

I'm afraid that if we skiied, one or both of us would end-up the same as Sonny Bono...God rest his soul!

Better think long and hard about going to a 'snow place' Mellie! You know, sometimes those blizzards come around and you could get SNOWED IN and not be able to get back to beautiful BRANSON for a long time!

We would 'LOVE' to get snowed into a Lodge in Vermont, or better yet, the Canadian Rockies. Wouldn't that be awesome!!

Like you Mellie, we don't ski. (Our siblings and families do, downhill, cross country, even snow shoeing...NUTS) We were both raised in Michigan, long hard winters, so grew up sledding, toboggoning, and mostly 'snow mobiling'. LOVED it ('then'). Although we would go to the ski slops with them, and we sat inside the lodge, sipping Kahlua in Coffee and watching the skiers.

When DH and I were first married, we had two St. Bernards. Massive Slobbering Beauties. Summers I almost always had them in my Kharman Ghia!! OH MY, that was a site... I think their combined weight was the same as my car.

Winters we used to take them over for all family holidays and harness them to the big 12 person toboggon. What a blast. They would haul all the neices and nephews around, the then be we go down the big hills, then we would reharness them to pull us all back up. The doggies loved it as much as us!

Anyway...not to ramble on. You would have a blast up there I'm sure. It would be a terrific vacation. Doing exactly as you have planned!

We stayed at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont last year on our annual ski trip. The von Trapp family are featured in the movie "Sound of Music" and they settled in Stowe after leaving Austria. The Lodge is rated by Travel and Leisure Magazine as one of the 500 best hotels in the world. We had a great time at the lodge and on the slopes at Stowe Mountain. The village of Stowe is an unique little place with neat coffeehouses, shopping, etc. I would recommend that you consider Stowe and the Trapp Family Lodge if you are planning to go to Vermont.

By the way, this is a neat little restaurant in Stowe (Gracies - its for dog lovers):
