March 1st - Trout season begins!

So, here it is, March 1st, 2008. it's 3:30 am and I'm wishing I were back home in Bentonville instead of sitting here at work in Tulsa. If I were back home I would be getting ready to leave for Roaring River where trout season officially begins in an hour and a half.

I'm so glad this forum is here so I can pine for the Ozarks with like-minded folks. Thanks so much for sharing all your hopes of future summers and reminiscings of past ones. It helped make this very cold winter pass a little less miserably. A big thanks to the guy who mentioned his childhood trips to Dogpatch. I had almost forgotten about that place.

Come to the Cabaret.

Yeah, my relatives up north of Salem are going, I guess it's to Montauk. He's had his license and equipment for a few days, and was chompin' at the bit! The weather's supposed to be in the 60's today, so that's a break. I sent 'em pictures of me playing golf at Torry Pines last Saturday, wearing a short sleeve shirt, and she replied that she had just used a shovel to beat the ice off her decks so they wouldn't fall going to the garage! She said I was hogging all the sunshine! Hey, I said, we have it bad here too! There was one morning I had to run the windshield washers to get the frost off. They didn't have a lot of sympathy for me!

Well...I'm a Californian as well...just alittle misplaced at the moment

Yup, unless your pals drove aways to Bennet Springs, Roaring River, etc etc...Montauk St. Park is just to the SW a matter of a few miles from your old grade school.

Sooooooooo now that we know they went, I wanna hear some ''fish stories''. The Salem News will have their Picture in the paper with the ''one that didn't get away''.

The Little Red Hen at the Junction was PACKED for breakfast at 8:45am this morning...I betcha they all had a fish and were back to town already for Ham 'n Eggs and GRAVY.

The weather is beautiful, but it feels colder than 60 to me...that breeze blowing over the piles of ice in the yard is what I need in August

I heard there were some animal advocate groups who were going to protest at some of the State Parks.......Maybe up at St. James?....near the interstate....they say ''fishing is painful to fish''.

Yup...

Haven't heard anything yet, but they're slow to e-mail sometimes. She usually tells me when she cooks up a big meal....Has to describe all the fixin's to make me hungry! When I'm in town, and she's at work, me and her hubby go into town and eat breakfast at the Little Red Hen. Pretty good eats! I gotta go bug them about the "fish stories".
