Thorncrown Chapel

Can someone tell me where the Thorncrown Chapel is located? Also, what motel would be a good choice for a wedding party that would be using the Chapel? Is the Chapel anywhere near The Passion Play?

Thorncrown Chapel is off Highway 62 on the WEST side of Eureka Springs; the Passion Play is off Highway 62 on the EAST side of Eureka Springs. There many hotels/motels in Eureka in various price ranges. Some are open year round while others are not.

I would think Inn of the Ozarks (Best Western) would be close enough. It's large enough to accomodate a large wedding party (if it's a large party), and is very centrally located. If you're looking at motel addresses, look for something on West Van Buren (which is Highway 62, West).

Hi k-2. My daughter just got married at Thorncrown Chapel in November. If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to help you out. Best Western Inn of the Ozarks would be the closest larger motel to the chapel. Some of our guests used the Holiday Inn in Eureka Springs while a lot of others opted for houses and condos on Holiday Island where the reception was held.

Thank you all for the information. I knew I could count on board buddies for some inside info. God's Girl--is there a place at the Chapel for the bride to dress? Also, did you use a photographer in the area?

Yes, there is a place for the bride and the bridesmaids to dress. It is the little office building on the right on the way up to the chapel. It is small, but it worked fine for us. It even has a bathroom. The groom and groomsmen would need to already be dressed.

We didn't use a local photographer. My dad is a retired photographer and took the pictures.

We checked into reception areas at all the hotels but weren't wanting to spend what they were asking. We had the reception at the Holiday Island Country Club ballroom. It is a beautiful place - nice large space with a full kitchen available. Their rates are very reasonable. We did a really nice reception with all kinds of food for much less than what most places wanted for just cake and punch.

Any more questions - just ask.

Thank you God's Girl--you will truly be a God Send to me as time goes on with planning. We aren't 100% sure of using the Chapel--but leaning that way. Did you decorate--use a florist in the area? What about the minister? We are about 4 hours away, and have no idea of services in the area.

As I said earlier, my daughter got married in November so she had a fall theme. We decorated ourselves with the help of my brother who has florist experience. We used pumpkins, a few flowers in the chapel and a unity candle. She didn't want to take away from the natural beauty of the place by using a lot of decorations - plus you have to take them down and have it ready for the next person to use. We visited with most of the florists in Eureka and Holiday Island, and they all had reasonable packages depending on what you're looking for. We were going to use the one in Holiday Island had my brother not been able to be there.

Our minister from here came up and did the ceremony for us. But there is a minister available at Thorncrown too should you wish to use him. We too are about 4 hours away - in central Arkansas.

I think you can contact the Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce for a Wedding book. It lists all the different services available in the area.

I'll be glad to help in any way I can. It was all a bit overwhelming at first when they decided to get married there, but it all turned out wonderful. My daughter and I spent a few days there in May and then again in August working all the details out. I'll email you a few pics if you'd like. Just let me know.

A plus for Wedding Guests...one of Eureka Springs Trolleys goes right to Thorncrown Chapel.

My vote for the Reception would be The Crescent Hotel.
Very memorable!

Hey--good news about the Trolley. Will have to jot that down in my notes. How about good places to eat--somewhere to get a nice meal that would be able to seat around 20? Not for a rehersal dinner--just a nice meal together.
