Barry Manilow

I such a Branson junkie - but since I can't be there very often, thought I'd share about my weekend in Las Vegas.

Finally got down there to see the Barry Manilow show at the LV Hilton. It truly exceeded our expectations - he is a great entertainer, performed music (his & others) from the 40's through the 80's, along with playing the piano on many songs. His band was great, and the backup singers were super. Even at 64, his voice seems better than when he was younger, I think the audience all felt young or 'younger' again.

And we also saw a Cirque du Soleil show - 'O' - superb! That was my 5th Cirque show over the years - they are so different and pure entertainment.

I loved O. I was in town once and was able to get tickets to the show and due to a last minute cancellation or a miracle, I got front row seats for the normal price of $120 per seat. I was warned that I might get wet. I didn't care. That show was fantastic. I also loved Mystaire, La Nubia and one of the traveling show in Seattle (forgot the name). The shows are wonderful.

The only complaint with O was trying to get to my hotel. The hotel/casino will not let taxis set in front of their place so taxi will ONLY come to the Balagio when they have to drop off someone. I found that out because it took 2 hours to get back to Treasure Island because of the taxis only came every few minutes. I was told that they want you to rent their limos so they will not let a taxi set in front of their hotel, so no taxi will go to the hotel unless they have a drop off.

I learned later the trick was to walk across to Ballys and get a taxi there. I found out later the secret.

I've always liked Barry Manilow. I remember listening to him on the radio & watching him on tv. I used to have his albums.

I love Barry! You are so lucky to get to see him, in Vegas!
I've seen him three times, and would love to see him again sometime!
