We are planning a trip to Eureka Springs Oct.16,17 and 18. Our dog will be traveling with us. We've found lodging at Lookout Lodge but we'd like some input about dog friendly places to go while we are there. We definitely plan to snoop around the shopping/historic district! Considering the craft show but sounds like the crowds may make it more of a job than a pleasure so we may skip it (Just can't stand the thought of a very long walk back to the car). Our dog is actually a certified medical alert dog so we know that we have a right to take her almost anywhere but......we prefer to only go places that are welcoming to her. Just easier on us, her, and I'm sure the business owners as well. So..........can someone in the know give us some input on places to see and go that are dog friendly?
Thanks! ![]() Last edited by crazygranny : 10-12-2007 at 11:53 PM. |

We take our dog to Eureka every time we go.
Historic downtown is very dog friendly, and it's commonplace to see a dog looped on to a pillar or fence while the owners stop in somewhere for a purchase. DH and I take turns going into stores while the other stays outside with the dog. Several stores actually put water and treat bowls outside their doors so people can let their pups get a drink and give them a little snack ![]() We have not had one restaurant with an outside dining area tell us the dog wasn't welcome. As a matter of fact, when walking down the street, we've had several restaurant employees give us a "shout out" that the dog is welcome on the patio or balcony. We took him to the Passion Play grounds, Beaver Lake, and War Eagle Mill as well. We didn't take him to Turpentine Creek, because we had the "pet package" from Lookout Lodge that came with a few hours of dog sitting, and that's when we utilized it. You may want to check with Turpentine to see if they'll allow you to bring the dog on the walking tour. BTW, our dog is a therapy dog as well, so we do have the vest and paperwork to get him in almost anywhere, but don't use it very often. We did when he was in training so he could get used to restaurants, stores, etc., but now we keep it to mostly dog-friendly places. Enjoy your trip!
