Dewey Short Visitor's Center

Yesterday we went over to the Dewey Short Visitor's center. It is free to get in and has a lot of information regarding fish, table rock lake and the area. There is access to get down close to the lake and plenty of seating to just sit down and enjoy the view. It also has access to the paved walking trail that runs along the shore down to the branson belle area. I think the trail is a little over 2 miles. We did not walk the entire trail because we had to get to a show but it is really a nice trail and would be a great activiity for families. You can even take your dog as long as it is leashed!

We discovered Dewey Short Visitor's Center in June and it is a beautiful place. I noticed some teenagers swimming off of a gravel beach too. I guess that is allowed. We spent about 2 hours walking around inside and outside. I agree, it is a great place to take the family.

I believe that the hiking trail is about 2 miles. That makes the 'round trip' a 4 mile walk. It goes past the Branson Belle and on to the marina. We have walked the complete trail twice. It is really a nice walk if you can find a cool time to go. It takes us about 1 1/2 hours to do the round trip. That is slow walking and lots of stopping!

You are correct, it is a very nice area, well kept. Mostly ignored by people that live here. The Corp folks have done a nice job keeping it attractive, and the exhibits inside are nice too.
