Horseback riding near Taney

I am going to have a chance to get down to Lake Taneycomo the last weekend of October and my wife will be making the trip with me for a change. Though she is an avid flyfisher I would like to try and do something kinda out of the ordinary for my trips and do something other than fish (like there really is anything else).
What I am wanting to do is try to find a place to go horseback riding that wouldn't have the typical trail burnt horses that walk along with their heads down and just follow the leader. I consider myself a pretty good horseman and we do own a few ourselves but I'm not wanting to let on that we're going to do this so they will stay at home.Any good info would be appreciated and, thanks to all in advance.

I went to google and found the following:

I have not been there, have not ridden there, have not heard about it
so maybe some of the board members can recommend it, or not, or
give you a lead on another place.

quote from website:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest and tell you a little about our ride.

Uncle Ike's Trail Ride has been taking visitors on horseback through the Ozark hills since 1970.
Many of our trails date back to the 1800's. Uncle Ike was the postmaster of Notch, Mo. when the mail carrier was still on horseback. Shaded, old trails cut through more than 150 acres of ozarks. We take a lot of pride in our healthy horses and skillful guides. Our trail rides are taken at a walk, single file. We enjoy a reputation for safety and well cared for and loved animals. To my knowledge, our trail ride has been in operation consecutively longer than any other in our area. We take care of your family.

'DAILY' RIDES
A 40-50 minute ride (hotter days take longer). A single file, walk thru a long shaded nature trail, 2+ miles long. You start your ride along a ridge, dropping down into the hollow. Then a slow ascent to return to the corral.

Daily ride schedule changes some thru the season. Sign up for the ride you want(in person is best) up to 48 hrs in advance, or just come on out and we will get you on the very next available ride.

'MEAL' RIDES
BREAKFAST RIDES: For GROUPS of 12 or more we offer a 7:00 a.m. ride with breakfast. By reservation, with deposit (one week notice minimum). With a 50 minute ride before reaching the tall pines camp area. The sausage gravy, biscuits, scrambled eggs, hash browns are prepared for you by a local restaurant and brought out to camp. Cold orange juice and hot coffee on an open fire! We secure the horses while you eat. Your ride back takes about 20 minutes. Your usually back by 9:15.

DINNER RIDES: For groups of 8 or more we offer a 4:30 p.m. meal ride. This is a reservation ride and we need some notice. The menu includes a pulled pork plate with two side dishes, lemonade and coffee.

The ride is approximately an hour. You settle in with your beverages, food and horse stories while we return the horses for the evening. We usually don't have to close the property until 7:30 or 8 p.m. so the length of time is up to you.

SPECIALTY RIDES:

The options here are unlimited! Private romantic rides or special birthday rides. Options and prices are negotiable. Normal safety guidelines still apply.
You may also change the dinner ride to a pizza ride or a hot dog roast...You could request the dinner ride meal at the tall pines camp site instead of the homestead picnic area if you don't mind a 10 minute walk back.

Missouri has the 'equine law' and signs are posted on site. There are risks to being around equine.
We hope to see you this season!

Dogwood Canyon

Our family has enjoyed riding at Dogwood Canyon. We're not experienced riders so I can't give you a good perspective about "trail burnt horses".
