Tour of Missouri
Are you going to go watch as the Tour of Missouri, or are you volunteering with the tour?
Are you excited about it? The riders are expected to arrive in Spfld any moment, and my dd is concerned that getting to the daycare to pickup my grand could prove to be a REAL challenge, as the tour route is less than a block from the school. After she picks her up she is planning to see what's going on in the area, ... I am at home, with no plans to go get into the crowd, but am watching the TV, and newspaper updates with a watchful eye. |

They are letting my children's school out early because of the traffic here. We are in Jefferson City and they are coming in Friday and will travel around, I believe going across the Missouri River Bridge, then back to the Capitol on Saturday for some local events. I think we will go for some of the festivities.

They were in KC yesterday and traffic was only shut down for a matter of minutes in downtown KC both when they went through at Noon and again when they came back through at 3:00. Was pretty neat to watch. We enjoyed seeing everything.

With some creative timing, dd didn't have any trouble picking grand up, even though her daycare is in close proximetry to the Tour of Missouri final stretch in Springfield. She did have to take a different route home, and dd's beau couldn't get his car out of his apt because of the crowd, gathered around it. All in all, they survived.

OMG! I have never seen so many bicycles. Hundred and hundreds on top of little cars and vans. This might be fun to watch.
They are arriving in town now. .

This is a bicycle tour/race across Missouri, the race started in KC, went from Clinton to Spfld today, and tomorrow they will be starting near the Branson Landing, and taking the High Road (I think that's the route - I KNOW they're going to be on the High Road)... should be a great view, with challenging grades. The race ends in a couple days, in the St Louis area I believe. |

Do not expect to see a "pack" racing together tomorrow
The Branson leg of this event is a time trials with racers leaving Branson Landing at spaced intervals. (1 minute apart I believe). No drafting by teammates allowed tomorrow. Elasped time will determine the winner of this leg of the overall event.
I would have thought that the hills of Branson would have made for some spectacular open racing...... I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow..... |
