Free things to do in Branson

We often have guests visiting us and they often ask what interesting things there are to do here without costing them a lot of money.

So far I can only think of:

Fish Hatchery
Dewy Short
Shows at Branson Landing

Costing almost nothing:

Moonshine Beach
Museum at C of O

Thanks everyone

Depends on what they like to do....

If they are outdoorsy people, there are lakes and streams to fish, Mark Twain National Forest to hike or bike, or swimming to do.

If they aren't quite as "active" but like the outdoors, grab a camera and start clicking The scenery here is unmatched. Find a "cut-out" and go rock collecting.

If they just like being out and about, you can't beat strolling old downtown Branson, browsing Dick's 5&10, and having lunch (or maybe just a homemade Cobbler dessert!) at one of the cafes downtown (Clocker's, Branson Cafe, The Shack), then don't miss the God & Country garden area on 76 across from the firestation.

If you drive out past the RFD Theater, about a mile or so down the road is a good place to get out look around, take pictures. etc. I can't remember the name of the park right off the top of my head. Somebody help me out.

One of our favorite things to do is to sit on the edge of the lake, and watch the deer, fish, geese, turkey at dawn, or more likely dusk.

We love to people watch - you can do that anywhere in Branson.

It's always so crowded to stop and look at the horses at Dixie Stampede show time. We like to stop and visit with the horses during the morning time. There aren't any crowds and you can stay and look as long as you want.

I think there might be a place to rent a GPS unit in Branson to go geocaching for an inexpensive fun time. There are several really good hikes/views involved in the area. If you know nothing about it, check www.geocaching.com

Essentially, you go for an outdoor excursion in search of a box hidden in the woods/parks/etc.
